Robi opens internet corner in Sylhet

Robi Axiata Limited, one of the leading mobile-phone operators in the country. This project aimed at providing free internet services for the users of Sylhet Pressclub in the Sylhet. The event was inaugurated by Chief Corporat and People Officer Motiul Islam Nowshad, Mayor of Sylhet City Corporation, Thursday at the Sylhet Government Public Library. Among others, Sylhet Pressclub President Ikbal Siddiki, Secratary Sirajul Islam attended the inaugural ceremony. Motiul Islam Nowshad said, “This internet corner will help many in Sylhet to get benefit of internet free of cost. Internet awareness among the users is needed to get the real benefit of information technology.” Addressing the function, Segufta Y Samad said, “This internet corner will allow the residents of Sylhet to get the opportunity to connect to internet free of cost.” Robi believes that the users will be able to explore the world through this free internet service.
Dacoit arrested in Sylhet
Osmaninogor Thana Police, with the assistance from locals, arrested one alleged dacoit near Balagong Bazar area of Balagong upazila on Saturday. The arrestees are identified as- Suhel, son of Sofor Ali of Tilapara village of Osmaninogor upazila, Md. Morsalin OC of Osmaninogor Thana Police Confermed the metter.
11 Jamaat men sued in Jessore
BENAPOLE: A case was filed against eleven leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami with Kotowali Model Police Station under the Explosive Substances Act on Sunday night. Sub-inspector Touhidul Islam filed the case. Earlier on Saturday, a Jessore court put the eleven leaders and activists of Jamaat on one day remand in a sabotage case. After interrogation, the Jamaat men gave information to police about keeping hand bombs in their houses. Later, police conducted a drive in the houses of Jamaat men Tariqul Islam, Shafi Ullah and Roich Uddin at night. They recovered seven hand bombs and 20 leaflets from the kitchen of Tariqul’s house. Police in a drive on July 27 arrested the eleven Jamaat men from a mosque in Narendrapur Post Office area in Sadar upazila along with Jihadi books, leaflets and banners. The arrestees were identified as Abdul Malek, Jamaat ameer of Kochua union unit, its secretary Tariqul Islam and nine other activists, reports UNB.
Youth held with 200 yaba tablets in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Detectives in a drive arrested a young man along with 200 pieces of Yaba tablets from Goljarbagh of Rajpara area of the city on Sunday. The arrestee was identified as Robin, 20, son of Chan Mia, resident of the area. On secret information, a team of the Detective Branch (DB) of police conducted the drive in the area around 2:30pm and arrested Robin from his house. After searching his body, they recovered 200 Yaba tablets, reports UNB.
Jewellery shop gutted by fire in city
GAZIPUR: A fire broke out in a jewellery shop in Kaliakoir Bazar of the city early Monday. Fire service officials said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at Badan Jeweller’s in the dead of night and gutted some gold and silver ornaments, furniture and other valuables of the shop. On information, a fire fighting unit rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after half an hour’s frantic efforts with the help of locals, reports UNB.
