Banker’s motorbike stolen in Sylhet

Motorbike of a Banker of Rupali Bank was stolen from Main Branch office UnderGround in city’s Mirabazar area early Sunday. Fakrul Islam, Manager of the Rupali Bank khanigat office, said he kept his bike at Main Branch office UnderGround in city’s Mirabazar area early Sunday. But, bike lifter took away the bike ‘Fashionpro100cc’ cutting lock within the short time. Police visited the spot after receiving complaint and filing of a case with concerned Sylhet Katwaly Police Station in this connection was under process, Mentionable, motorbike lifters have become active in the city recently and took away a number of bikes.

Two houses in Sylhet robbed same night

Muggers looted cash, gold stuff and other precious items worth Tk 15 lakh from two houses in Sylhet City on Monday. Local people said a gang of masked criminals broke into the house of Motosir Ali, at Mohona C-19 Patantula area and looted all the valuable things in the house. The miscreants robbed 10 tolas of gold ornaments, cash Tk 40 Thousand and other stuffs worth total Tk 10 lakh from the house.

Fake cigarette factory unearthed in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI : Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)unearthed a fake cigarette factory in Bagsara area under Paba Upazila of the district today, RAB Sources here said.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid at the area and found the factory manufacturing star brand cigarettes. The operation team detained its manager identified as Borhan Uddin, 35, son of Jasim Uddin, on charge of manufacturing and marketing fake cigarettes. The team also seized huge cigarettes and tobacco valued at around Taka 56.69 lakh. Subsequently, a mobile court conducted by Executive Magistrate Nilufar Yeasmin sentenced the detained person to one and a half years of imprisonment and fined Taka one lakh in default to suffer three months more in jail. The court also sealed off the factory until further order. Besides, the seized goods were destroyed in presence of the magistrate, reports BSS.

4 held with 39 kg hemp in Sirajganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested four people along with 39 kg hemp from Chandaikona Bazar area in Raiganj upazila of the district on Tuesday. The arrested were identified as Nur Hossain, 38, a suspended member of Bangladesh Amry and son of Nurul Huda, a resident of Paschim Ramkhana village in Nageshwari upazila, Abul Kashem, 35, son of late Tamijuddin, a resident of Alontopur village in Phulbari upazila of Kurigram district, track driver Abul Kalam, 40, son of Sadar Mondal, a resident of Sugribpur village, and helper Biplob Hossain, 25, son of Sohrab Mondal, a resident of Mondalpara village of Kushtia Sadar upazila.

Police constable drowns in Pabna

PABNA: A police constable drowned in a pond on the Faridpur Police Station complex in the district on Tuesday evening. The deceased was identified as Yasin Ali, 48, son of Afzal Hossain, a resident of Shahajadpur upazila of Sirajganj district. Officer-in-charge of Faridpur Police Station Saiful Islam said Yasin went down into the pond to take bath as he was tired after playing football in the evening. At a stage, he drowned in the pond around 7:30pm. Later, other policemen rescued Yasin from the pond and took him to Faridpur Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
