Youth electrocuted in Jessore

A young man died from electrocution at Mulgram in Keshabpur upazila early Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Touhidur Rahman, 30, son of Alauddin of the village.
Family sources said Touhidur Rahman came in contact with a live electric wire while cutting the log of a tree around 6:30 am, leaving him critically injured. Later he was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Two robbers held in Jhenidah

Police arrested two alleged robbers while taking preparation to commit robbery in Belemath area of sadar upazila early Thursday. The arrestees were identified as Mohidul Islam,30, of Gopalpur village, and Motiar Rahman, son of Mahtab Uddin of Durgapur village in sadar upazila. ASP (Sadar circle) Gopinath Kangilal said a gang of robbers was cutting trees as a preparation to commit robbery by blocking the road in Belemath area in the early morning. Being informed, police from Bazar Gopalpur inspection camp conducted a drive in the area and arrested the two robbers while their other associates managed to flee.
Jamaat ameer among 8 held in Joypurhat
JOYPURHAT: Police in a drive arrested eight leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami along with the party’s district ameer from Haripur village in sadar upazila on Thursday morning. The arrestee was identified as Doctor Fazlur Rahman Syeed, district Jamaat ameer, Anwar Hossain, Jamaat secretary of sadar upazila, Taiful Islam Fita, Jamaat ameer of Kalai upazila, Taslim Uddin, Jamaat ameer of Panchbibi upazila, Sujaul Islam, Jamaat secretary of the upazila, and three others. Being tipped, the law enforcers conducted a raid on a house at the village around 9pm and arrested them while they were holding a clandestine meeting, said Belayet Hossain, additional police super of Joypurhat, reports UNB.
Robber ringleader held in Chandpur
CHANDPUR :Police in a drive arrested the ringleader of a robber gang from Notun Bazar intersection area of the district town on Tuesday afternoon.The arrestee was identified as Selim Mijhi, 32, son of Sirajul Islam, a resident of Lodher Gaon village of the upazila.A team of police from Chandpur Model Police Station led by sub-inspector Ahsanuzzaman Labhu launched a drive in the area around 4pm and arrested Mihi, said A H Enayet Uddin PPM, officer-in-charge of Chandpur Model Police Station. Miji was wanted in ten cases, including robbery, reports UNB.
Youth held with 6,750 Indian rupees in Benapole
BENAPOLE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a young man along with 6,750 Indian rupees from Sadipur village of Benapole municipality on Tuesday night. The arrestee was identified as Ramzan Ali, 26, son of Ahsan Ali, a resident of Saluda village in Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj district. Subedar Ayub Hossain of BGB 26 battalion said being tipped off, a team of BGB launched a drive in the area at night and arrested Ramzan along with the Indian rupees, reports UNB.
Farmer killed by lightning strike in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A farmer was killed by a lightning strike at Diyar Manikchar village in Godagari upazila on Tuesday afternoon.The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam Kalu, 32, son of Abdur Razzak, a resident of the village.Locals said the lightning strike hit him while he was working in the field around 4:30pm, leaving him dead on the spot, reports UNB.
