Urban Food Day observed in C’nawabganj

With the slogan ‘cultivation on homestead gives nutrition twelve months in the year’ Urban Food Day was observed in Chapainawabganj on Saturday. Chapainawabganj municipality arranged rally, agriculture fair, discussion meeting and prize distribution on the occasion under Urban Partnerships for Poverty Reduction (UPPR) project.The rally was taken out from the municipality park and after parading the main roads it ended at the same venue. It was participated by law maker of Chapainawabganj sadar constituency Md. Abdul Wadud, mayor of Chapainawabganj municipality Maolana Abdul Matin, chairman of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila Md. Ruhul Amin and representatives from different government and non-government organizations, NGOs and slum dwellers. After the rally, a discussion meeting was also held on the municipality premises with the mayor of the municipality Maolana Abdul Matin in the chair and was addressed among others, by deputy project director of UPPR project Md. Marshalin, district fishery officer Ekramul Hoque, district livestock officer Dr. Saiful Islam, executive engineer of Chapainawabganj municipality Md. Saiful Islam and councilors of the municipality.
Youth’s body found at SUST

Body of a youth was found at Gazi Kalu Majar behind the First women’s dormitory of Shahjalal University of Science & Technology (SUST) yesterday morning. The body was identified to be of Bassu Mia, 25, son of Ejjot Ullah of Village Bargul under the Airport Police Station. Police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. According to police, locals found the body as they went to the field to work and informed police at 7am. Later, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to hospital.
