Phensidyl recovered from lawyer’s chamber at Barisal Bar Assoc

A team of detective branch of Barisal Metropolitan Police on early Monday recovered 39 bottles phensidyl from the locked chamber of an adv at Barisal Bar Association extension building in district judge court premises. Ansar Uddin, assistant commissioner (DB) and spokesman of BMP said after long time observation and investigation they became sure about doing drug business at Bar Association premises. On basis of collected information police raided the chamber of Advocate Riazuddin Milon at that premises on Monday early hours taking permission from the concerned authority. After searching room and opening false-ceiling of the lawyer’s chamber police succeeded to recover 39 bottles of phensidyl. However the advocate managed to flee away after became aware about police raid. A case has been lodged in this connection with Kotwali police station on Monday.
Cheques distributed in C’nawabganj

Proyas Manobik Unnayan Society, a non-government organization distributed Tk. 44.42 lakh among 123 persons in different categories with the financial assistance of another NGO Palli Karma Sahayok Foundation (PKSF) on Monday. The cheques were distributed for the rehabilitation of beggars, special deposit matching, scholarship for poor meritorious students and rehabilitation aid for the people affected by flood, erosion, draught and political violence. A simple function was arranged on the occasion at the Nakib Hossain Smriti Auditorium of Proyas at Belepukur in Chapainawabganj town. It was held with the executive director of Proyas Hasib Hossain in the chair. Among others, assistant general managers of PKSF Dilip Kumar Chakrabarty and Dipen Kumar Saha, treasurer of Proyas Principal Anwarul Islam and director of Proyas Shah Azad Iqbal spoke on the occasion.
Fish fries released in C’nawabganj
Some 24,000 fish fries were released in the river Mohananda at Baroghoria near Birshreshtha Shahid Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir Bridge in Sadar upazila on Thursday noon. Bangladesh Police Service Association and Chapainawabganj District Community Policing Cell jointly released the fish fries. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police of Rajshahi Range Md. Iqbal Bahar attended the function as chief guest. After the release of the fish fries, a discussion meeting was held on the river bank. It was held with the superintendent of police (SP) of Chapainawabganj Bashir Ahmed- in the chair. Among others, deputy commissioner of Chapainawabganj Mohammad Jahangeer Kobir, convener of Chapainawabganj District Community Policing Cell and former chairman of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila Md. Ruhul Amin, mayor of Chapainawabganj municipality Maolana Abdul Matin and district fishery officer Md. Ekramul Islam spoke on the occasion.
JCD leader arrested in Jessore

Benapole police arrested Imdadul Haque, treasurer, Jessore distinct unit Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student wing of the main opposition party in the country, Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Thursday night. Apurba Hasan, officer in-charge, Banapole police station told that the JCD leader was wanted in a case with the police station. ‘He was absconding since a long’, he added.
Drug peddler stabbed to death in Comilla
COMILLA: A man was stabbed to death by some miscreants at Kemtoli village in Borura upazila on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Amir Hossain, 35, an alleged drug peddler of the village. Nasir Mridha, officer-in-charge of Borura Police Station, said on information, police recovered the body of Amir from a filed in the village in the afternoon. The body bore 10 injury marks, the OC added. The body was sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Police suspected that Amir might have been stabbed to death by his associates over sharing the money of the drugs business. Amir was released from the jail one month ago as he secured bail from a local court in connection with a case filed for possessing drugs and one, reports UNB.
Robber ringleader injured in Khulna ‘gunfight’
KHULNA: The ringleader of a robber gang was injured in a reported gunfight with members of the detective branch (DB) of police at Ajapara village in Terokhada upazila on Tuesday early night. Rakonuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Khulna district detective branch (DB) of police, said, acting on secret information that a gang of robbers was taking preparation to commit robbery in Ajapara area, a team of the detective police conducted a drive in the area at about 12.30am and surrounded the robbers. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire on them, forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight. At one stage, Moeshed, the ringleader of the robber gang, was caught in the line of fire and received a bullet in his knee, reports UNB.
