Heavy downpour in Bagerhat

Bagerhat district town and its adjacent areas has experienced heavy downpour since the morning. It paralyzed the normal life of the district town. Day labourers were thrown out of job. On the other hand, the low lying areas of the town like Nagerbazar, Mithapukur . Post office area, Palpara, Hrikhali etc. areas were submerged with rain water. The Eid shopping was marred. But the rain water logged in those areas cannot recede for want of proper drainage system.
Sanatan Bidyarthi Sangsad demands arrest of AL man in Jessore

Sanatan Bidyarthi Sangsad, a platform of Hindu students, Jessore district unit demanded arrest of local influential Awami League activist and also union council member , Saiful Islam and his men for attacking Hindu community men at Ballabhpur under Chaugachha upazila in Jessore.
The demand came from a memorandum handed over to the deputy commissioner and superintendent of police, Jessore on Wednesday. In the memorandum, the student platform stated that Katrik Kumar Biswas, president, Ballabhpur Matshyajibi Samabaya Samity, Sarjit Roy, general secretary were wounded seriously in an attack carried out by Awami League men led by Saiful Islam, member, ward number eight, Sukhpukuria union council under Chaugachha upazila on July 1.
Human chain demanding measures to check river erosion.

A human chain was formed near the Brahmaputra river at Chilmari upazila in Kurigram district on Wednesday noon organized by Rail, River Route and Development of Communication and Environment in Chilmari upazila demanding measures to protect Jorgach Bazar and the rest work of right embankment protection project from erosion. Some thousands of men, women and children participated in the human chain made about one kilometer long at Jorgach old bazar violating sunny atmosphere here. The human chain was addressed among others by Chief Coordinator of Gono Committee Nahid Hasan Nolez, organizing secretary Jamiul Islam Biddut, Freedom Fighter Samsul Haque Babu.The speakers narrated that most of the areas of Chilmari river port areas have already eroded. At the end of human chain a memorandum was submitted to Chilmari Upazila Nirbahi Officer .
Farmers’ training on Zinc rich BRRI Dhan held

A day long farmers training on Zinc rich BRRI Dhan 64 was held at Bhozgati Union Parishad hall room on Wednesday. AAS (Agricultural Advisory Society), Harvest Plus arranged it. Presided over by Chairman Muktar Hossain it was addressed by DAE Officer Agriculturist Shushanto Kumar Darofder, Harvest Plus Jessore ARDO Mojibur Rahman, Pro. M,A Razzaq, Pro. Abbas Uddin, Asst. Terrorist held with firearms in Sylhet

Police in a drive arrested an alleged terrorist along with a pipe-gun and two rounds of bullet from Doudik village of Jaintapur upazila on Wednesday night, reports UNB.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Ali, 40, son of Abdur Rahman, a resident of the village.Being tipped off, police conducted a drive at the village around 8pm and arrested Ali from his house, said Golak Chandra Bosak, officer-in-charge of Jaintapur Model Police Station.A case was filed in this connection.
