Dacoit gang held with arms , sent to jail in Barisal

Mamun Mallick, 40, alleged member of notorious inter-district dacoit gang, arrested with a Sub Machine Gun (SMG) and two magazines, sent to jail on Friday. Barisal Kotwali police Sub Inspector Delowar Hossain, said Mamun Mallik, son of Abdul Karim Mallick from Biswas Bari of Khontakhali Village under Charmonai union of Barisal Sadar Upazila, was arrested from his hide out at Rajarchar village of the area at about 11:00 PM Thursday night. An Indian-made SMG with two rounds ammunitions of ammunitions were recovered from his possessions.
He was connected with notorious Khalil-Jalil dacoit gang and wanted by police as accused in different criminal cases including dacoity with different police stations of Barisal, Patuakhali districts, SI Delwar added.
Minor boy electrocuted in Dupchanchia

A minor boy was electrocuted in Khanabari area under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Nayim Hossain, 8, son of Dulal Sheikh Islampur village of the upazila. He is a class one student of Islampur government primary school. Officer- in- charge of Dupchanchia police station Gopal Chandro Chocrobarty quitting family members said Nayim died in the area with the electric cable of the poultry firm of Zillur Hossain as he came here to pluck the mangoes. Owner of the poultry firm Zillur said, “I use the electric cable at night to save the livestock from the attack of fox.” Police rushed to the spot and sent the dead body to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical Collage and Hpspital morgue for autopsy. Deceased’s father Dulal Sheikh filed a murder case accusing two people with the local police station in this connection.
8 Jamaat men rounded up in Sylhet

Police have rounded up 8 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami from different parts of the city on charge of their involvement in various criminal activities. Add Commissioner of Sylhet Police, told the local journalists that they picked up 8 in different anti-crime raids Sylhet area from Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning. The Jamaat-e-Islami decided to protest against the Supreme Court verdict and called for a whole day strike across the country yesterday. “Those detained are all Jamaat-Shibir activists. Most of them are wanted in cases filed over violence during the indefinite blockade at the beginning of the year,” the SMP chief added.
Three motorcycle lifters held in Laxmipur
LAXMIPUR: Police in a drive arrested three alleged members of an inter-district motorcycle lifters’ syndicate from a house at Borhanuddin Bhuiya Road in the town early Saturday. The arrestees were identified as Antar Chandra Sheel, son of Gobinda Sheel, a resident of Samserabad area, Ripon, son of Sirajuddin, a resident of Sakharipara area, and Sohag, son of Nurul Islam of Banchanagar village in the town. Police said acting on secret information, a team of police raided the house and arrested the them in the early hours of Saturday. A motorcycle was also recovered from their possession. They have long been involved in stealing and snatching motorcycles from different parts of the town, said police. They were wanted in several cases filed with Sadar Police Station, reports UNB.
