Alleged terrorist held with arms in Chapainawabganj

An alleged terrorist was arrested with a foreign made pistol, a magazine and a bullet from Dariapur under Chapainawabganj municipality on Monday night. The arrested person has been identified as Asim alias Mominul, 19. son of Anwarul Islam of Nimtala Kathal village under Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj district. Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 sources said, acting on secret information, an operation team of RAB from Rajshahi Railway Collony camp raided Dariapur area at around 10 pm and held Asim with the arms and ammunition. During a primary interrogation the arrested person has admitted to the RAB of a recent attack on an operation team of RAB at Gomostapur, the sources added.
Woman dies from snakebite in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: A woman died after receiving a snakebite at Farhadpur village in Godagari upazila on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Sarida Begum,40, wife of Ruhul Amin, a resident of the village. Family members said a venomous snake bit Sarida when she was working in the kitchen in the afternoon. Later, she was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared her dead, reports UNB.
One killed as fire breaks out in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR : An elderly woman was burnt to death and three others suffered injuries as a fire broke out at a house in Uposhahar area of the district town early Monday. The deceased was identified as Mirijan Nesa, 75, wife of late Jabbar Ali, while the injured were Ajadul Islam, 55, son of Mirijan, his wife Rashida Begum, 45, and his daughter Sabina Yeasmin, 24, of the village. Sadar Fire Station senior officer Zakir Hossain said the fire originated from electric short circuit at the house around 4:45 am and soon it engulfed the adjoining ones.
2 workers killed in road accidents in Sylhet

Two workers were killed when a sand-laden truck plunged into a road side ditch as its driver lost control over its wheel in Khilpara area of Fenchuganj upazila on Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Aslam Miah, 25, son of Sorafot Miah, resident of Machhimpur area of the city, and Saiful Islam, 20, son of Abdul Zabbar, resident of Ranikuthir village of Netrokona district. Nandan Kanti Dhar, officer-in-charge of Fenchuganj Police Station, said the accident took place while the truck plunged into a road side ditch in the area around 8:30am, leaving the duo dead on the spot. On information police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Doctor’s house looted in Sylhet
Robbers looted valuables from a doctor’s house at Fonitula in Sylhet City early Monday. Quoting witnesses, police said 10-12 armed robbers swooped on the house of Doctor Sondip at the dead of night and looted the valuables. As the house inmates resisted, the robbers stabbed them with sharp weapons, leaving them injured. Armed robbers looted cash and gold ornaments worth Tk 4 lakh from house. Later, the robbers escaped with the booty.
