One convicted for adopting unfair means in Teacher’s regn exam

A mobile court sentenced one candidate of teacher’s registration examination to one-month jail for adopting unfair means on Friday. The sentenced examinee was Abdul Huq Talukdar, a master’s degree student of Economics department of Barisal Government Brojo Mohun College. Major Masud Rana, principal of Barisal model school and college, said teacher’s registration examination held at this institution center on Friday. Invigilator on room no. 408 found Abdul Huq alias Ferdous Talukdar, one of the examinee, adopting unfair means with the help of mobile phone for answering questions and caught him red handed. He was expelled from the examination and then placed before a mobile court led by Rumana Aktar, administrative magistrate. The court after examining witnesses and mobile phone records found Abdul Huq Talukdar as guilty and sentenced him to one-month imprisonment. The sentenced accused sent to jail on Friday afternoon, court sources said.
Schoolgirl drowns in Sylhet

A schoolgirl drowned in a pond at Sonapur village in Biswanath upazila on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Ayesha Begum, a class X student of Gobindaganj High School in Chhatak upazila and daughter of Shukur Ali, a resident of Sonapur village in Biswanath upazila. Locals said Ayesha slipped into water and drowned while bathing in the pond near her house at about 2:30am. Later, locals found her floating body in the pond and recovered it. Union Parishad member Ekhlas confirmed the incident.
New UNO exchanges view with local journalists in Dupchanchia

Two held with 45 bullets in C’nawabganj

Members of RAB-5 arrested two alleged arms traders with 45 rounds of bullets of 7.65 mm pistol from Chakghorapakhia Biswaspara under Shibganj upazila of hapainawabganj district at early hours yesterday. The arrested persons have been identified as Md. Rajit Billah, 32, son of Md. Monirul Islam and Md. Abdul Quayum, 30, son of late Yusuf Mondol both of Kalupur Dakhinpara under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district. RAB said, acting on secret information, an operation team of RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp raided Chakghorapakhia Biswaspara area and detained a mango laden bhutbhuti at around 1-30 am and after searching the baskets of mangoes they found the bullets. The traders of arms and ammunition were taking the bullets elsewhere of the country along with the mangoes, the sources added.
Jamaat Ameer held in Shibganj
Police arrested the Ameer of Shibganj upazila unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Md. Golam Azam, 42 from Shibganj market area in Chapainawabganj district this morning.OC of Shibganj thana Moinul Islam said, when Jamaat men were preparing to bring out a procession, police arrested him at around 7 am. He added that Golam Azam was an accused in 15 different cases including attacking on police, ransacking of vehicles and destructive activities. The cases were filed at different times from 2013 to 2015, he further added.
Farmer found dead in Jessore
BENAPOLE: Police recovered decomposed body of a farmer from Gopinathpur village in Abhaynagar upazila early Sunday. The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain, 45, son of Tota Miah, a resident of the village and a farmer. Locals informed police finding an odour coming out from a locked room of Anwar’s house, said Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Abhaynagar police station. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body from the room around 12:30am. Anwar might have been stabbed to death around ¾ days ago, added the OC, reports UNB.
