Workshop held in Chapainawabganj

A workshop on ‘Less-cut Control and Proper Collection of Hides, Preservation and Transport for Controlling Quality of Raw Hides’ was held at the conference room of Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday. Bangladesh Tanners Association and Leather Sector Business Promotion Council (LSBPC) of the Ministry of Commerce jointly arranged the workshop. It was held with businessman Md Mohsin Ali in the chair. President of the Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Abdul Wahed attended it as chief guest while president of Chapainawabganj District Leather Traders Association Md Manjur Hossain, former senior vice presidents of the Chamber Md. Khairul Islam, former Vice President of the same Md Monowarul Islam Dalim attended as special guests. The chief speaker of the workshop was chairman of the Department of Foot-ware Engineering of the Institute of Leather Engineering and Technology Amal Kanti Dev.
Gun fight of pirates injures 3 fishermen in Sundarbans

At least three fishermen sustained bullet injuries when a fierce gun battle took place between Bhai Bhai Bahini and Barek Bahini, 2 rival gangs of armed jungle pirates in Kalamula canal of river Shela in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans over the expansion of supremacy on Saturday night. But it could not be known whether any jungle pirate was injured or not at that time. Following the incident a panic has been prevailing among the fishermen catching fish in the river Shela. Fishermen who returned to Sharankhola from the forest said that on Saturday at 11-30 pm both the two gangs of jungle pirates took face to face position at the place of occurrence in order to take possession of Shela area near Dhansagar forest station office. At one stage suddenly exchange of gunfire started between the 2 groups of jungle pirates and it continued for long an hour. At that time more than one hundred fishermen waiting in some 25/30 fishing boats in the river Shela for catching fish. During the exchange of gun fire fishermen Ishaq Ali (28), son of one Somed Ali of village Rajapur under Sharankhola Upazila in the district, Yunus Ali (28), son of one Joynal Abedin of village P C Baraikhali under Morrelganj Upazila in the district and Aminul Islam (33), son of one Mostafa Hossain of the same village. They were waiting there in a fishing boat belonging to Chand Mia, a fish trader of Uttar Rajapur under Sharankhola Upazila for catching fish. Kabir Talukdar, a fish trader of Uttar Rajapur under Sharankhola Upazila over mobile phone, confirmed it.

Occetion of the chief guest Rangpur divissinal commissinor Mr Md Dilwor Bakth , Special gust Mr Ashoke kumar Biswas Presided over byadisoner Secratori and Project Diaroct (S T L P ) Mr Md , Emran .Among others Director of Genarl Technical Education Mr Md Shahyaham miaa ,chairman Bangladesh Technical Education Board Dr.Md, Mostafizur Raham , Rangpur polytechnic institute principal .Madrasha and technical Principal ,teacher, educationists, journalists, student , civil society members also took part in the seminar.
Fish trader commits ‘suicide’ in Jessore
BENAPOLE: A local fish trader allegedly committed suicide by taking poison at Bishhori village in Jhikargachha upazila on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Obaidur Rahman, 26, son of Hossain Ali, a resident of the village and a fish trader by profession. Police said Obaidur took poison at his house some time in the night. He was rushed to Jessore 250-bed Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Obaidur might have committed suicide from depression as he had incurred a loss of about TK 60,000 in his business, reports UNB.
