8 kgs gunpowder seized in C’nawabganj

A team of Boarder Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized eight kilograms of gunpowder in Wahedpur border area of Shibganj upazila of the district. BGB- 9 Battalion director Lieutenant Colonel Abu Jafar Sheikh Mohammad Bozlul Haque said a BGB patrol team recovered a bag containing gunpowder from a field at Shyampur village early Friday morning when an unidentified person threw it and ran away towards India.No one was arrested in this connection.
Jessore Polytech students demand arrest of killers of their fellow

Student of Jessore Polytechnic Institute on Thursday morning formed a human chain demanding the arrest of the killers of Ismail Sheikh, 21, fifth semester student of the institution. Ismail , son of non-commissioned army official Belal Uddin Sheikh of Taraf Nawapara and his friend welding trader Al- Amin, 24, son of Abdul Aziz of Arpara- Ghurulia village under Jessore sadar upazila was allegedly killed by the police on May 25. Police branded the killing as mob beating. Delwar Rahman Dipu, maternal uncle of the student and also library affairs secretary, Bangladesh Chhatra League, central committee, in press conference held at Jessore Press Club on Wednesday pointed fingers to the police for killing his nephew and his friend over love affair with a Hindu girl who is relative of an insurance official. Belal Uddin Sheikh, father of Ismail, Mrs Rehena Belal, mother, Insar Ali, uncle of ‘lynch’ victim Al- Amin and a number of relatives of the victims were present at the press conference.
2 killed in Bagerhat road crash
BAGERHAT: Two people were killed when a microbus hit a pick-up van at Palerhat on the Khulna-Mawa highway in Fakirhat upazila early Friday. The deceased were identified as Sumon Molla, 31, a pick-up van driver and son of Nur Mohammad of Sonadanga, and Ibrahim, 28, a staff of a poultry farm in Goalkhali area of Khulna district.Abdul Mannan, officer-in-charge of Katakhali Highway Police, said a Mongla-bound microbus hit a pick-up van carrying chicken from behind when it lay stranded in the area for repairing, leaving the driver and staff killed on the spot. The incident took place when a wheel of the pick-up van with 1,400 chickens got punctured while going to Gopalganj for delivering chicken. They met the tragic end while repairing the punctured wheel, said police.Police seized the microbus but could not arrest anyone as the driver managed to flee, reports UNB.
Truck helper killed in Rajshahi road mishap
RAJSHAHI: A truck helper was killed and three others injured in a road crash near Nawdara Fire Station on the Charghat-Baneshwar Road on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Bachchu Miah, 40, son of Nasim Uddin, a resident of Jafarpur village in Charghat upazila, and the wounded were identified as truck driver Mofidul, 40, truck labour Israfil Hossain, 50, and Idris Ali, 40. Officer-in-charge of Charghat Model Police Station Alamgir Hossain said a Charghat-bound truck loaded with sand rammed into a roadside tree near the Nawdara fire station around 4.00 pm. Later, locals rescued the victims and rushed them to Charghat Upazila Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Bachchu dead.No case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
