Farmer killed in clash over land dispute in Natore :

Abu Syed (46), a farmer was killed and at least three persons were injured in a clash over the land dispute on Sunday . The clash erupted between two rival groups of the same village named Gormati in Baraigram upazila under Natore district. Abu Syed was a son of Mohammad Ali of the village Gormati. One group was led by Abdus Samad, son of Mohammad Ali and another by Joynal Abedin son of Sukur Ali. Primarily, Abdus Samad and Joynal Abedin began to exchange hot words but it took serious turn and a clash began between two rival groups. As a result, Abu Syed was killed on spot. His elder brother Abdus Samad (56), his wife Rezia Begum (50) and his son Mofizul Islam (22) were injured seriously. They were taken to Baraigram Health Complex. Police recovered the dead body and sent it for autopsy to Natore Hospital mourgue. A murder case has been filed in this connection.
Body recovered from ditch in Muladi

Police recovered dead body of a male from a ditch in Char Degree under Muladi upazila of Barisal on Monday noon. He was identified as Abdur Razzak Talukdar, 60, son of Md. Ali Talukdar of the area. Md. Alauddin, Muladi police station officer in charge, said Abdur Razzak became missing after performing Fazr prayer went out from home in early morning. After searching in the area his dead body was recovered from a ditch by local people and informed police at noon. Police recovering the dead body sent to Barisal Sher-e- Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy lodging a case of unnatural death. Quoting family sources police claimed Abdur Razzak was suffering from mental illness.
PPR week being observed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: PPR (Pests des petits ruminants) week is being observed in all the seven upazilas of the district from Sunday for the first time in a bid to prevent this disease. District livestock officer Dr. M. Abdul Latif said PPR disease is a contagious viral disease of goat less commonly sheep and almost all aged of goat may get infected by this disease which generally spreads through air, feed, water etc. Fever, anorexia, depression, nasal and ocular discharges, difficult respiration, lips and tongue resulting in salivation, erosions on the nasal mucosa and finally diarrhea are the symptoms of the PPR disease, he explained. Every year thousands of goat die through this disease affecting goat production and economy very much in the country, he said adding that the mortality rate of PPR disease is very high, about 90 percent, reports BSS.
Extensive Aus cultivation plan taken up in C’nawabganj
CHAPAINAWABGANJ: An extensive Aus cultivation plan has been taken up here this year. According to the district office of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Aus would be cultivated on a total of 54,928 hectares of land with the production target of 1,21,486 tonnes of rice in the district. Of them, 19,160 hectares would be cultivated with the production target of 36,791 tonnes in sadar upazila, 21,391 hectares with the production target of 48,475 tonnes in Shibganj upazila, 5,845 hectares with the production target of 14,729 tonnes in Gomostapur upazila, 5,135 hectares with the production target of 12,940 tonnes in Nachole upazila and 3,397 hectares with the production target of 8,551 tonnes in Bholahat upazila, the sources added, reports BSS.
Mayor launches renovation of KD Canal in Rangpur
RANGPUR: Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu on Monday inaugurated renovation works of the KD Canal here in the city. Under the project, renovation works of the three-kilometre long canal from Medical Purbo Gate under Ward No-19 to Jummapara areas will be implemented at over Taka one crore from own resources of RCC to improve the waste management in the city. The City Mayor formally inaugurated the renovation works through launching re-digging of the canal with excavator at Medical Purbo Gate area as the chief guest in presence of hundreds of the local people from all walks of life. RCC Councilors Shafikul Islam Dulal, Sekendar Ali and Mahbubar Rahman, its Superintending Engineer Emdad Hossain, Executive Engineer Azam Ali, former Councilor Mahbubar Rahman Manju, Joint Secretary of City Shop Owners’ Association Moazzem Hossain Mithu, social workers Saber Hossain and Abdul Bari, contractor Abu Sultan Md Salahuddin Babu were present, reports BSS.
