Body recovered from hotel room in Barisal

Dead body of an unidentified youth was recovered from a residential hotel room in the city on early Thursday. Rafikul Islam, manager of Hotel Barisal at Chwakbazaar Road area of the city, said one man identifying himself as Bashir Haoladar, 35, son of late Siraj Mia from Taltali of Nalcity upazila under Jhalakathi district rented room no. 103 on first floor of the hotel at 6:00 AM on Wednesday. After that one unidentified youth came to visit him and remained in the room. Hotel boy at about 11:00 PM Wednesday from window of the room marked an unidentified youth lying on the bed and the room locked from outside. The hotel boy knocked to open the door, and failing to receive any response from inside, hotel authourity informed police, hotel manager added. Shakhwat Hossain, Kotwali police station officer in charge, said police rushed to the spot opening the door recovered dead body of an unidentified youth, aged about 26-year, lying on the bed of the room. The dead body sent to Shere E Bangla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy and police started investigation, the OC Kotwali PS told.
2 killed by lightnings in Sunamganj
SUNAMGANJ: Two people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in South Sunamganj and Jamalganj upazilas on Thursday morning. The deceased were identified as Lutfar Miah,45, a resident of Laxmipur village in Jamalganj upazila, and Sayed Miah,30, a resident of Shimulbak village in South Sunamganj upazila. Witnesses said a thunderbolt amid rain struck Lutfar while he was going outside to bring cattle at about 6:00 am, leaving him dead on the spot. Meanwhile, Sayed was killed by a lightning strike while he was working in his crop field at about 8:00 am, leaving him dead on the spot. Officer-in-charge of South Sunamganj Police Station Al Amin and Jamalganj upazila chairman Kamruzzaman confirmed the incidents, reports UNB.
Student killed in Baraigram road accident

A school going student Shakil Ahmed (11) was died on spot in a road accident in Baraigram Upazila under Natore district on Wesnesday. Shakil was a son of Sohrab Hossain of the village Gopalpur under Baraigram Upazila and a student of class four of the Gopalpur Govt. Pri. School. When he was crossing a road, a speedy truck ran over him.
Training of betal-leaf cultivators ends in Baraigram
A two- day long training programme of betel-leaf cultivators ended on Tuesday in Baraigram upzila under Natore district. In the training programme , 130 betel-leaf cultivators took part. It was presided over by Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Nazrul Islam. Also, Dr. Shafikul Islam, Munzurul Islam, Anwar Hossain, Dr. Bahanur Rahman and Tazul Islam were present as trainer in this programme.
3 held with ganja in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: Police in a drive arrested three drug peddlers from Chhankanda area of the town on Wednesday. The arrested persons are Swapna Begum, 33, Deluara Begum, 35, and Md Mozaffar, 28, of Roumary upazila in Kurigram district. Police said, acting on a tip off, a team of police raided in the area and arrested them. Police also recovered 2 kilograms ganja from their possessions. A case was filed in this connection, reports BSS.
