Man held with arms in Sylhet
Sylhet Correspondent.
Police in a drive arrested a person along with arms from Vatalia area early Sunday. The arrestee was identified asPinku das , 28. He was a member of a gang of robbers. Shohel Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station said police arrested him while he was taking preparation for committing a robbery in the area. Police also recovered one LG and three rounds of ammunitions from his possession. A cases were filed with Kotwali Police Station against him, the OC added.
Lightning kills two in Sylhet
Two boys were killed as lighting struck them at Dakshin Surma upazila of the district on Sunday morning. The deceased were identified as Ali Hossain, 25, And his Labour Raju miah of Minikpur village under Dakshin surma upazila. Nurul Islam, Daud pur union parishad chairman, confirmed the incident.
Twenty shops gutted, damaged near Barisal Airport

Fire gutted ten shops and damaged 11 others at Rahamatpur Bazaar under Barisal Airport police station on Monday afternoon. Matiar Rahman, Airport police station officer in charge, fire assumed to be instigated from electric short circuit at about 2:55 PM Monday rapidly spread in the market. Delwar Hossain, president of Rahamatpur Bazaar Committee, said ten shops of the market gutted by fire damaging properties worth Tk 50 lakhs. Hasib Aknd Dipu, station master of Barisal fire service and civil defense, said three units of fire service from Wazirpur and Barisal rushed to the spot and controlled the flame within 4:40 PM. Cause and damages of the incident would be assessed after investigation, fire service sources said. Local lawmaker Advocate Tipu Sultan of Workers Party visiting the affected area asked administration to help the victims.
Housewife allegedly killed by husband in Jessore

A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband at Panchbaria under Jessore Sadar upazila early Sunday. The dead was identified as Nasima Khatun, 35, wife of Wazed Ali of Panchbaria village. Shimul Hossain, brother of the dead told that his sister was beaten to death by his husband early Sunday. But his husband claimed that she died in heart attacked. She was admitted to Jessore Medical College Hospital by her husband at night and was declared dead by the attending doctor of medicine department Dr Abdullah -al- Mamun at around 3am. She was then taken to the residence of her parents. ‘She was taken to the hospital for autopsy further by the Kotwali police after her relatives observed it as fresh killing at the time of bathing. Her body wore marks of tortures,’ the victim’s brother added.
Whip distributes subsidy in Chuadanga
CHUADANGA: Solaiman Haque Joardar, whip of Jatiya Sangsad said here today that the present government is an agriculture-friendly government. For this the government is working relentlessly for the wellbeing of the farmers community, he added. The whip was distributing cash taka, fertilizer and Aus paddy seeds as subsidy among the 895 poor and marginal farmers of Chuadanga Sadar upazila on eve of the Aus cultivation season at Chuadanga Sadar upazila parishad auditorium here today as chief guest. He said at present there is no crisis of seeds, fertilizer, fuel, insecticides and other inputs required for cultivation in the country. The whip said the government is trying utmost to ensure fair price for the products of the farmers like paddy, wheat, maize, jute and other agriculture products, reports BSS.
