Huge phensidyl , shrimp-pollen recovered in Barisal

Law enforcers recovered 1,303 bottles phensidyl and 9 lakhs shrimp-pollen (renu pona) in two different drives under Barisal district on Saturday. Asaduzzaman, Assistant Commissioner of Airport police station under Barisal Metropolitan Police, said local people noticing suspected parking of a yellow coloured pickup-van (no. Jessore-9-11-0265) at Mohanganj Bazaar area informed police station at about 10:30 PM Friday. Police rushed to the spot seized the pickup and searching the vehicle recovered 1,303 bottles phensidyl from the vehicle at about 11:00 PM Friday. After that police seizing the vehicle and operating drive arrested one Omar Faruk from Shah Paran Road area of Barisal city and lodged a case in this connection on Saturday morning, said Shoibal Kanti Chowdhury, commissioner BMP, after visiting the spot.

A voluntary organisation named ‘Aso Gouripur Gari ‘ started its journey on 1 May (Friday ) in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district. Young socio-cultural and professional bodies organised a seminar and cultural programme at Press Club Conference Hall at 5 pm . Arms trader held in Jessore

Rapid Action Battalion men on Friday night arrested a suspected arms trader and seized a foreign made 9mm pistol while the arm was being sold to a miscreant at Ball Field under Benapole port police station. The arrested is Nasir Uddin, son of Amjad Hossain of Putkhali village under the same police station. Niaz Mohammad Faisal, company commander, Jessore camp, RAB- 6, told that tipped off the RAB men arrested Nasir raiding the area while arms were being sold to miscreants at around 11pm on Friday. The others, however, managed to flee the scene sensing the presence of RAB. The arrested was handed over to Benapole port station police.

Workshop on chemical-free mango supply held in C’ nawabganj

A daylong workshop on ‘Increasing opportunities of export of mangoes’ was held at the conference room of Kallyanpur Horticulture Centre on Saturday. It was arranged by Bangladesh Mango Producer Merchants Association assisted by Agro-product Business Promotion Council of the commerce ministry.Held with the president of Bangladesh Mango Producer Merchants Association Md. Monirul Islam in the chair it was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj Mohammad Jahangeer Kobir as chief guest and mayor of Chapainawabganj municipality Maolana Abdul Matin and director of the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and also the president of Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md.
