Science Fair held in Fakirhat

In order to make science education popular in the Secondary School level and for its over all development a day long inter school science fair was held in Attaka Keramat Ali Pilot Secondary School in Fakirhat Upazila in the district on Tuesday. It was arranged under the auspices of NGO Badhan, Bagerhat with the financial support of Bangladesh Freedom Foundation. The fair was ceremonially inaugurated by Prof Dr Tarapada Bahumik, Head of the department of IEM, Khulna University of Science and Technology and Md. Shafiqul Islam, ADC (Rev), Bagerhat in presence of a large number teachers, students and the elites of the locality. In the inaugural speech Prof. Tarapad Bhaumik said, no country can be developed without the knowledge in science and technology. So, the future generation of our country should pursuit of science and technological knowledge. It was also addressed among others by Md. Shsafiqul Islam (ADC), Shaikh Shariful Kamal (Karim), Upazila Chairman of Fakirhat,Swapan Das, President Fakirhat Upazila Awami League, Mahbubur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Oficer, Fakirhat, Md. Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-charge of Fakirhat Model PS, and Debashish Kumar Biswas, Upazila Education (Secondary), Fakirhat.

View exchange meeting held

A views-exchange meeting was held between the managers of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) and the district administration at the Deputy Commissioner auditorium “Karatoa” recently. RAKUB Deputy Managing Director Freedom Fighter Abdul Khalek Khan presided over the meeting. Md Helal Uddin Ahmed, Divisional Commissioner and also Director Board of RAKUB directors commitee attanded the meeting as chief guest Among others Md Shafiqur Reza Biswas,DC, Bogra , Md Mozammel Haque, SP, Md Abdus Samad , Managing Director of RAKUB and Md Altaf Hossain, Zonal Manager RAKUB (south) were present in the programme.

2 hurt as plaster collaeps

Two persons were injured after plaster from the roof fall on them at X-ray room of Barisal General Hospital, popularly known as ‘Barisal Sadar Haspatal’ on Wednesday noon. The injured were Jalilur Rahman, 44, in charge of the X-ray section and Rahima Begum, 60, patient. Jalilur said suddenly a large portion of plaster from roof top of the room collapsed and fell down. Table glass was damaged and they sustained minor injuries luckily saving from fatal accident.This created panic among staffs, admitted patients and attendants of them in the hospital, Jalil acknowledged. Dr. Delwar Hossain, resident medical officer of the hospital, acknowledging the facts said the hospital was established on 1912 by public donations. Now it is working as a unit of Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital. We appealed many times to public works department for repairing the hospital building on emergency basis since last one year. But PWD yet not started any repair, the RMO of the hospital said.

‘Declare martyred family in Jessore’

A human chain demanding declaration of Hanif Gazi, Dinesh Dey and Ananda Mistri of Abhaynagar village and Mukul Bhadra, Birendranath Halder, Kalipada Paul and Bibhuti Bosh of Bibhagdi village and Tarapada Ghosh of Baghutia village under Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore as martyred family members . The human chain was formed on Jessore – Khulna Highway at Rajghat under Nawapra industrial town in Jessore at 10 am on Wednesday. Iqbal Kabir Jahid, polit bureau member, Workers Party of Bangladesh, Harun -Ar – Rashid, Akhtaruzzaman Taru, Abdul Aziz Sarder, Principal Khairul Bashar, Dipti Rani Dey and Mohammad Ali spoke at a rally during the chain.
