Chess competition held in Feni

The opening ceremony of Feni district school based team chess competition “Marks Active School Chess Champs-2022” was held at Police Line Drill Shed on Saturday. Feni District Superintendent of Police Zakir Hasan announced the auspicious opening of the district school-based team chess competition. Feni District Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration and Finance) Mohammad Badrul Alam Mollah was present as special guest along with representatives of sports organizations, chess coaches and school teachers and students.
Drug trader awarded life term

Tapan Roy, Judge of Additional District and Session Judge Court-2, Bagerhat, in a judgment recently delivered one Shaikh Monirul Islam (52) and sentenced him to suffer rigorous imprisonment for life (RI) and to pay a fine of Tk.10 thousand on the charge of hoarding and selling heroin. The convicted person was present in the court at the time of the delivery of the judgment. Litu alias Litu Shaikh, anther accused of the case was, however, acquitted of the charge for want sufficient evidences. Convicted Shaikh Monirul Islam is the son of one late Shaikh Nur Mohmmad of Hularpar area in the village Kartikdia under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district. The prosecution story, in brief, is that on February 23 in the of year 2013 Bagerhat district DB police arrested Monirul Islam and Litu Shaikh from Pagla-Shyamnagar, adjacent to Jora Kabarasthan (joint graves area) by the side of the Highway under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district.
8 fishermen held with 2 trawlers
Some 8 fishermen were arrested along with two fishing trawlers by the forest guards from Shelarchar area under Chandpai Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans (in Bagerhat district) recently on the charge of catching fish illegally, according to a delayed report received here. It is learnt from the forest source that on the day while the forest guards of Shelarchar forest outpost were discharge their normal patrol duties they found two fishing trawlers in a canal of Fusfuserchar. Then the forest guards rushed to the spot and asked the fishermen to produce permission in favour of their catching fish from Sundarbans. But they (fishermen) failed to produce any papers or documents in favour of them. Then the forest guards arrested 8 fishermen along with fishing trawlers and handed them over to Shelarchar forest outpost. The arrested fishermen are Eshaq, Asadul, Nesarul, Zahidul, Bellal Zomaddar, Nasir Mridha, Habib Pahlan and Jasim. They all hail from the different villages under Taltali Upazila in Barguna district. ##
5 drug dealers arrested in Manikganj

District detective police arrested 5 drug dealers and heroin from Manikganj’s Sadar Upazila. They were arrested by conducting a special operation on Friday night . The arrested persons are -Shaheen Bepari (36), Hamidur Rahman (33) and Biplab (27) . 13 grams of heroin were recovered from Chota Ghior area of Sadar police station. On the same day, another raiding team arrested Liton Mia (30) and Mosharraf Mia (37) along with twenty five grams of heroin from Panch Baril area of Sadar police station at 10 pm. District Intelligence Branch in-charge Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain said that 38 grams of heroin was recovered from the arrested persons. Several cases are pending in court against them. In this regard, 2 cases have been registered under the Narcotics Control Act at the Sadar police station.
