2 drug dealers arrested in Ishwardi

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force of Pabna Narcotics Control Directorate arrested two drug dealers with 510 pieces of Yaba in Ishwardi on Monday . The operation was conducted under the leadership of Ishwardi UNO and Executive Magistrate PM Imrul Kayes with the joint cooperation of Narcotics Control Directorate, Pabna ‘K’ Circle and Ansar members. Arvind Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of the Police Station, said that a case has been filed against the arrested persons under Section 36(1) Table-10(a) and Section 41 of Narcotics Control Act, Ishwardi police station on Tuesday and sent to Pabna Jail. The task force arrested Nazma Begum (31) of Kushtia from West Side of Rashid Vender in Maniknagar Purvapara village of Ishwardi with 500 pitch yaba. 5,220 taka in cash from the sale of Yaba was recovered.
Three held with heroin, phensidyl in Natore
RAJSHAHI : Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an anti-crime drive arrested three alleged drug peddlers with 1.260 kilograms of heroin and 400 bottles of phensidyl from a village in Natore district Monday night. The arrested persons were identified as Joynal Hossain, 42, son of late Idrish Fakir, Sharif Mian, 33, son of Shadat Ali, and Nazir Hossain, 27, son of late Abdus Salam Mollah. All are hailed from Narayanganj district. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in Gopalpur area on Lalpur-Bonpara road under Lalpur upazila at around 10:30 pm and arrested them after searching a sand-laden truck.The team also seized the heroin and phensidyl from their possessions, the RAB sources added, reports BSS.
Coordination meet on eye care held

A meeting on free eye care service for the targeted marginalized group of people was held with 26 NGO representatives, arranged by Community Eye Hospital and CDD, supported & funded by Sightsavers on Thursday at Rupkotha Conference room, Rangpur. The meeting was presided by Rumana Jaman, Serecretary, Mohila Porisod and conducted by Mr. Faizur Rahman, Asst. Executive Director, Community Eye Hospital. Mr. Masud Rana, PIO, Sightsavers and Mr. Abdul Koddus Zahid, Asst. Coordinator, CDD presented their valuable themes on the topic. Mr. Sheikh Karim, Inclusion Officer presented that in the last 3 years the program has arranged 52 patient screening program for the targeted group of people and 6091 persons were served. 462 person underwent cataract surgery free of cost through the program. In the meeting it is decided that 12 free eye camps for marginalized group of people will be held in the next 4 months in Rangpur district with the help of the NGOs.
