10 hurt in Sylhet JP factional clash

Atleast 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of Jatiya Party (JP) in Bishwanath upazila on Friday afternoon over the upazila unit committee. Party sources said the new district JaPa convening committee on Wednesday formed fresh committee of its Bishwanath upazila unit dissolving the previous one. However, the supporters of JaPa MP from Sylhet-2 constituency Md Yahya Chowdhury opposed the new committee. They held a broom procession and a rally on Thursday rejecting the decision of the district convening committee. The both groups — backing and opposing the new committee — locked in a clash in Basia Bridge area of the upazila headquarters around 3pm on Friday.
Man held with phensidyl in Sylhet
Members of Rapid Action Battalion-9 (RAB) in a drive arrested a person along with 160 bottles of Phensidyl from Natun Bridge area of Kanaighat Upazila under Sylhet district on Tuesday.The arrestee was identified as Abdul Malek, 30, son of late Abdul Hannan of Agarchati village in Satbag union under the upazila. RAB sources said on secret information, they conducted a drive in Natun Bridge area and seized 160 bottles of sedative cough syrup and also arrested the trafficker.The seized Phensidyl and arrestee were handed over to Kanaighat Police Station.
A case was filed in this connection, the sources said.
BCL leader lost leg in road mishap

Selim Joarder Shimul, 30, Joint Secretary, Babgladesh Chhatra League lost his right leg in a road mishap at Barobazar on Jessore- Jhenidah Highway on Friday morning. Dr Sayeed Siddique, Assistant Regsister, Jessore Medical College Hospital confirmed the matter. The BCL leader was refereed to Dhaka as his condition was going to be deteriorated, the doctor added. Shanta, friend of the victim told that the BCL leader met an accident at Barobazar while he was coming to Jessore by a motorbike in the morning.
23 prisoners take part in HSC exam in Gazipur

Some 23 prisoners took part in HSC, Dhakil and Alim examination on Wednesday sitting at Dhaka central jail -2 at Kashimpur in Gazipur and Kashimpur high security central jail. Senior Super of Dhaka central jai-2,Jahangir Kabir said seeking permission from court and jail obeying rules and regulations 8 prison of Alim,2 of HSC are appearing at the examination this year.
Woman killed in Laxmipur road crash
LAXMIPUR: A woman was crushed under the wheels of a bus in Madam Bridge area of the district town on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Rahima Begum, daughter of Abu Majhi, a resident of Uttar Mojupara village in sadar upazila. Police said the accident took place when a bus hit Rahima in the area around in the morning while she was crossing the road, leaving her dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy. Abdul Karim, assistant superintendent of sadar police station, confirmed the incident, reports UNB.
