Meet on rehabilitation of third gender community

A town hall meeting titled “Development and Rehabilitation of Third Gender Community” organized by Rangpur Multiparty Advocacy Forum was held at Conference Room of Rangpur Regional Office with the support of Democracy International on Sunday. The forum was chaired by SM Yasir, General Secretary of the Forum and chaired by Sahida Rahman Jyotsna, President of the Forum. President of Mahanagar Khandaker Fakhrul Anam Benju and others. Senior co-chairs of the forum Shah Nabiullah Panna, Shahidul Islam Mizu, Abdur Razzak, China Chowdhury, Rejeka Sultana Fensi and other important responsible members were present. Forum members pledged to continue their advocacy process on the issue.

 Menstrual Hygiene Day observed

 Menstrual Hygiene (MH) day is an annual global event which is celebrated on 28th May and makes awareness, advocacy and knowledge-sharing around the importance of menstrual hygiene management. There are many taboos/myths related to menstruation, and this particular day aims to break all taboos and raise awareness among individual, organization and everyone who menstruate and the one who don’t. It is celebrated so that people could understand menstruation is not a curse, rather it is a gift and proper hygiene is important. SKS Foundation WASH 4 Urban Poor project celebrated the MH Day on Monday in two Secondary schools namely Saidpur Adrosha Girls School and Tulshiram Govt. Girls School. This year, the theme for World Menstrual Hygiene Day is ‘making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030. The World Menstrual Hygiene Day celebrated on Monday at two Institutions namely Tulsiram Govt. Girls School, and Saidpur Adrosha Girls School & College, Saidpur, Nilphamari. Adolescents’ girls, female teachers, Male teachers, Councilors, Journalist with Secondary Education Officer participated in the program. They discussed on importance of celebration of World MH day. Break Social taboos and raising awareness to adolescents and their families, Health awareness in menstrual period. After discussion session a quiz competition on discussion issue. Those how are give correct answer they got a menstrual hygiene pad packet.
Total 20 number of student got the prize of two schools. At the end of the session 100 number of menstrual hygiene pad packet provided in the each school. The main objectives of celebrating this day were following was to raise awareness on importance of menstrual hygiene management, periodic time physical problem and practicable of that time, School dropout deduce of periodic time , to break the silence on menstruation and to advocate the MHM friendly environment.
