Mango collection inaugurated

Mango collection has been officially inaugurated at Baraigram in Natore . Natore Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shamim Ahmed and Superintendent of Police (SP) Liton Kumar Saha inaugurated the mango collection program at Kechuakora Asaduzzaman’s mango garden in Ahmedpur of the Baraigram upazila on Saturday noon. Barigram Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mariam Khatun, Agriculture Officer Sharmin Sultana, Officer-in-Charge of Baraigram Police Station Abu Siddique, Joari UP Chairman Chand Mahmud and other farmers and traders of the area were present on the occasion. Emphasis was also laid on ensuring non-toxic mango production and ripening of fruits. Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed said, the district administration would remove any obstruction in fruit collection, marketing and transportation activities of fruit growers. Administrative monitoring of fruit orchards and orchards will continue.
Workshop on poverty alleviation held

“EEP” model sharing workshop was organized in Rangpur on poverty alleviation and inequality reduction. The workshop was held in the Conference Room of Bangladesh RDR and funded by Islamic Reliefs , a private development organization on Monday. Acting Secretary of Rangpur Press Club Md. Sajjad Hossain Bappi was the Chief Guest at the workshop, Special guest was Abdur Rahman Mintu, Vice President of Rangpur Press Club. which was presided over by Abdul Hai Arif, Project Officer, Rajarhat Branch of the organization. Directors of more than 30 non-governmental organizations in Rangpur and officials of international NGOs spoke on the occasion. The project manager Md. Monir Hossain conducted it.The meeting unveiled the “Extreme Poverty Alleviation” (EEP) model and discussed in detail how other organizations can play a role in eradicating poverty from society.
Father, son arrested with firearms
JASHORE: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a man and his son with five foreign made pistols and five bullets from Sadipur village under Benapole Port Thana of the district Monday morning. The arrested were identified as Shah Jamal Kalu, 52, and his son Sohel Rana, 30, residents of Sadipur village in Benapole port Thana.
