Traffic Week begins in Kishoreganj

Kishoreganj, District Police launched the Traffic Week on Wednesday aimed at ensuring discipline in streets and creating awareness among town dwellers for a better vehicular management. Senior Police Super (SP) in Kishoreganj Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM(Bar) formally inaugurates the programme at Battola (Gaital) square in the town . Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC, Edu.&Ict) Golam Mostafa as special guest. Earlier, District Police arranged different programmes including colour full rallies, discussion, handbills -poster distribution, screening of videos and publishing guide books to speed up ongoing traffic management and awareness campaig. Advocacy meet on health care held

An Upazila Advocacy meeting on health was organized at Baraigram in Natore on the initiative of Sachetan Society, a non-governmental development organization at the Upazila Parishad Meeting Room on Tuesday morning under the community mobilization program in collaboration with Social Marketing Company (SMC). Upazila Parishad Chairman Dr.Siddiqur Rahman Patwari as the chief guest, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mst. Mariam Khatun, Family Planning Officer Mizanur Rahman, Medical Officer of the Health Complex Shabnur Jahan, Project Manager of the Organization MA Abdul Awal Palash along with officials of various departments of upazila administration, NGO representatives and civil society representatives were present.
Truck driver killed
A truck driver named Liton (50) was killed and his helper was seriously injured in a head-on collision between two trucks at Baraigram thana more in Natore. The deceased was identified as Liton, a resident of Churkali village under Katowali police station in Jashore district. Police and locals said two trucks collided on the Bonpara-Hatikumrul highway at the Baraigram Thana more at around 6 am on Tuesday. From Kushtia to Dhaka bound (Dhaka Metro T-24-5526) truck carrying Mahendra truck collided with a Dhaka to Natore-bound goods loaded truck (Dhaka Metro D-11-5426). Liton, the driver of a Dhaka-bound truck was killed on the spot and his helper was seriously injured. The injured were rescued and admitted to Baraigram Upazila Health Complex.
Housewife commits suicide
A housewife named Mithila Akhter Jaya (18) has committed suicide due to poisoning in Baraigram of Natore. He died at Bonpara Patwari General Hospital on Monday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Mithila Akhter daughter of Joynal Abedin of Kachutia village under the upazila and wife of Raju (23) of Majhgaon village.
Joynal Abedin, the father of the deceased said that due to a family quarrel, Mathila drank poison at around 1 pm on Sunday night. She was later brought to Bonpara Patwari General Hospital. Mithila died on Monday while undergoing treatment there.
