Tk 50,000 fines for selling soil at Bhangura

A mobile court has fined a man Tk 50,000 for cutting and selling soil for commercial purposes near Chandipur cemetery in Khanmarich union of Bhangura upazila in Pabna. The man’s name is Zafor Ali (45). He is a resident of Kalinjiria village in the same union. The mobile court was conducted by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Bipasha Hossain on Sunday noon. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Nahid Hasan Khan confirmed the incident and said that Jafor Ali was fined Tk 50,000 under Section 15 (1) of the Balu Mahal and Soil Management Act for digging a canal at the near of cemetery.

3 traders fined for selling soybean oil at high prices

A mobile court has fined three traders Tk 45,000 for storing old soybean oil at high prices in Mymensingh’s Gafargaon Municipal Town. Mymensingh District Consumer Rights Protection Department and CAB jointly conducted the operation on Saturday at noon. According to mobile court sources, Nishat Meher, Assistant Director of Consumer Affairs in Mymensingh district, conducted raids in Shibganj Road, Pat Mahal and Budhia Market areas of the municipal town on the basis of secret information. A total fine of Tk 45,000 was imposed on Farhad Store, Mamun Store and Zahirul Store for storing old soybean oil at high prices. Soybean oil, which was later sold to these three traders, was sold to the public at a fair price. In this regard, Nishat Meher, Assistant Director, Consumer Affairs, Mymensingh District, said that three traders have been fined Tk 45,000 by a mobile court for storing soybean oil in various establishments in Gafargaon municipal town. GM Helal, general secretary of CAB and police chief were present at the time.

Rapist held in Baraigram

RAB arrested Nazmul Islam (26), accused in the rape case of an 8th class madrasa student at Baraigram in Natore. The accused Nazmul Islam is the son of Azahar Ali of Sangrampur village in Zonal Union of the upazila. RAB sourses said, on an information, RAB led by Natore Camp Captain Md. Farhad Hossain arrested rapist Nazmul Islam in the village of Mahanandagachha under Baraigram police station on Sunday night. The victim girl was returning home from her grandfather’s house on Saturday afternoon. On the way, Nazmul Hasan forcibly took her to a sugarcane field by the side of the road and raped her. Nazmul fled when the neighbors came forward at the sound of the girl’s crying. The incident took place in Sangrampur village of the upazila on Saturday. A case was filed in this connection at the police station on Sunday morning.

Drug dealer of Baraigram arrested

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Shahadat Hossain (35) a drug dealer from Lalpur in Natore recently. Shahadat Hossain is the son of late Siddique Hossain of Manikpur village in Baraigram upazila. According to a RAB press release, Shahadat Hossain was arrested in Kadamchilan Pukurpara area under Lalpur police station in Natore district under the leadership of RAB, Natore Camp Company Commander Additional Superintendent of Police Md Farhad Hossain. During the preliminary interrogation, the arrested person admitted that he had collected the seized evidence of cannabis from different areas and kept it in his custody for the purpose of sale.
