A volunteer Organization work with women slogan of ‘Pashay Asei’ formally distributed 3000 Shari and Lungi among poor people in Kurigram district at noon on Friday. The clothes were distributed among poor and ultra-poor men and women at Biddananda union under Rajarhatupazila and Holokhana union under KurigramSadarupazila at noon on Friday (April 22). Two housewives commit suicide

Two housewives have committed suicide in Baraigram of Natore. The suicides took place on Wednesday morning and night. Among them, Souravjan (50) and Jotsna Begum (45) committed suicide due to mental imbalance. The deceased were identified as Saurabhjan, wife of Abdur Rahman of Khoksa village under Sadar union of Baraigram upazila and Jotsna Begum wife of Kismat Ali of Bajitpur village. According to family sources, Saurabhjan had been suffering from mental imbalance for some days. She did not recover even after being treated by various doctors including Pabna Mental Hospital. On Wednesday morning, she committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope tied to the arrow of her house. On the other hand, Jotsna Begum was suffering from heartburn and insomnia. She was mentally broken as she did not get well even after receiving treatment from various doctors. She took poison gas tablets on Wednesday afternoon. She was admitted to Baraigram Upazila Hospital and later to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where she died.

Poster fair and Certificate Awarding Ceremony on ‘Inquiry Based Learning to Promote Science Education’ was held at RDRS. Bangladesh Auditorium recently. Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) organized the event supported by US department of state. A Senior Biology teacher of BAF Shaheen English Medium School (SEMS), Ms Lizoon Nahar conducted the project under the banner of Global Educators Initiative for Sustainable Transformation [GEIST] International Foundation. Some fifty science teachers from ten selected secondary schools of Rangpur- Lalmonirhat districts were brought under the project program. Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Embassy, Khadija Mohamud attended the event as chief guest while Deputy Director , Directorate of Secondary & Higher Education ,Rangpur Zone Md. Akhteruzzaman was present as special guest with Founder President and CEO GEIST International Foundation, Biplob Kumar Dev in the chair.
Honorarium distribution, Iftar Mahfil held
On the occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Fitr, 15 Khatibs, 47 Imams and 40 Moazzins of the municipal area have been given honorarium of Tk. 1 lakh and 33 thousand. Besides,Tk 98 thousand has been provided for the decoration of 27 Eidgah grounds in the municipal area. Municipal Mayor KM Zakir Hossain handed over the cash to all concerned at the Iftar mahfil on Wednesday evenig at the auditorium of municipality.
It was addressed by Mayor KM Zakir Hossain, Upazila Awami League President Abdul Quddus Miaji, Upazila Imam Kalyan Samiti President Maulana Moazzem Hossain, General Secretary Hafeez Abdul Mannan, Councilor Maulana Md. Ashraful Islam, freedom fighter Abul Khair and Accounting Officer Delwar Hossain. At the end of the program, prayers and iftar mahfil were organized.
Child killed in a road mishap in Mongla

A 6 years child named Anupam Roy was killed when he was run over by an easy bike at Kainmari area within Chandpai Union Parishad under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district on Thursday afternoon, according to a report received here. The ill-fated child is the only son of one Mintu Roy of village Kainmari (under the Upazila). It iss learnt from Jugal Roy, paternal uncle of the deceased boy that at the afternoon he was going to attend to a religious ceremony along with his paternal grand mother and when they were crossing a road in Kainmari Paschimpara area the killer easy bike that was coming from the opposite direction ran over the boy and fled away. As a result, he sustained severe injuries on his and body. He was immediately admitted to Mongla Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries after a few minutes.
