Anti-drug meet held

An anti-drug public awareness discussion meeting was held at Dadapur Secondary School in Ishwardi on Tuesday under the campus program organized by District Drug Control Department Pabna (b) Circle Ishwardi. Khaleda Akhter, headmistress of the school presided over the function. Chief Guest was Inspector Shanwar Hossain of Narcotics Control Department. Special guests were Ziaul Haque, a member of Laxmikunda Union Parishad and Saleha Khatun, a woman member of the reserved seat. Assistant teacher Rabiul Islam took care of it. At the same time, the guest speakers said that drug addiction is increasing day by day among the young boys. Because there is no happy atmosphere in the family. They do not have time to talk openly to their parents in the family. Just lost in the pressure of study. That is why they start associating with whom they get close without any consideration, and they get fired. So, competitive literary and cultural activities along with reading and writing in school.

Prog on agri media reporting held

Scientists, media professionals, and agricultural journalists highlighted evidence-based media reporting in a knowledge-sharing programme titled “Knowledge Sharing & Capacity building on Agricultural Media Reporting” was held at Nirvana Inn Hotel, Sylhet on Tuesday. The event organized for agricultural journalists of Sylhet Division, was aimed to enhance skills in evidence-based reporting for a better understanding of modern agricultural innovations including modernization and commercialization of agriculture, genetic engineering, climate change, nutrition, and food security issues. More than 30 journalists from 27 print and electronic media from Sylhet Division participated in the program organized by Farming Future Bangladesh (FFB). Media personnel interacted with speakers and shared their views on the status, prospects, and challenges of agricultural biotechnology. Md. Arif Hossain, CEO and Executive Director of the FFB, inaugurated the training program by thanking all the participants, panelists, and other dignitaries. “Farming Future Bangladesh is working to improve public perception about the benefits of modern agricultural innovations for sustainable food security in Bangladesh”, he said.

Farmers training held at Shibalaya

A two-day farmer-farmer training has been held to set up a nutrition garden at Shibalaya in Manikganj. Deputy Director of ManikganjKhamarbari Agriculture Extension Department Abu Md. Enayet Ullah was the chief guest on the concluding day of the training workshop organized by ShibalayaUpazila Agriculture Extension Department. The training workshop was held on 19 and 20 April at ShibalayaUpazilaKrishak Training Center. ShibalayaUpazila Agriculture Officer Riazur Rahmanconducted the workshop. In the financial year 2021-’22, a two-day farmer-farmer training workshop was held under the project of establishing family nutrition gardens on uncultivated fallow lands and backyards. The chief guest said that about 70-80 percent of the people of Bangladesh are malnourished. There is a shortage of nutritious and safe food in the country to meet the nutritional deficiencies.
The use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in crop production for nutritious and safe food should be reduced and organic and compost fertilizers should be used. In this way safe and nutritious crops will be available and sustainable development goals (SDG) will be realized.
30 farmers from 7 unions of the upazila took part in the training workshop.
