Prize giving ceremony held

The prize distribution of painting competitions for the year 2020 and 2021 on the occasion of Great Martyr’s Day and International Mother Language Day was held recently organized by Kaler Kantha, Shubhsangha in Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar. Kaler Kantha Shubhasangha Kulaura Vice President Md. Zahirul Islam presided over and chaired by General Secretary Mohi Uddin Ripon, the Chief Guest was Principal AKM Shafi Ahmed Solman, Chairman of Kulaura Upazila Parishad and senior vice-president of Upazila Awami League. He said in his speech that Kaler Kantho Shubhasangha has been doing various creative, educational and humanitarian works since its inception which is highly commendable. The organization has done various awareness works during the Corona period. All their good deeds are exemplary for other organizations. He promised that there will be full cooperation from the Upazila Parishad in all the activities of Shubha Sangha in future. Shubhasangha’s Advisor and Vice-President of District Journalists’ forum Md Mosabbir Ali, Azizul Islam, President of the Press Club. Mahfuz Shakil, Advisor of Shubha Sangha and representative of Kaler Kantho, Syed Ashfaq Tanvir, representative of Samakal, Anisur Rahman, banker spoke as a special guest. Welcoming speech was given by Rumel Ahmad Chowdhury, Sports Secretary of Shubha Sangha. Manabjamin representative Md. Alauddin Kabir, journalist Ashiqul Islam Babu, Azhar Munim Shafin and others were present. At the end of the programme, 18 winners of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the two-year painting competition were given honorary crests and certificates.

A coordination meeting on prevention of child marriage has been held at Tarash Upazila in Sirajganj recently. A coordination meeting was held in the Upazila Parishad Hall on the topic of BRAC Social Empowerment and Legal Protection Program. One of the ways to empower women is to prevent child marriage. Child marriage stands in the way of women’s development. Therefore, BRAC organizes coordination meetings on social empowerment and legal protection programs with the administration, public representatives, journalists, and civil society leaders to prevent child marriage.
