Inception workshop held

A day-long ‘Inception Workshop of the project titled ‘Production and Dissemination of Disease Free Sugarcane Seeds’ was held in Bangladesh Sugarcrop Research Institute Auditorium on Wednesday. The chief guest was BSFIC Chairman (Grade-1) Arifur Rahman Apu. Dr Amjad Hossain, BSRI’s Director General presided over the programme Special guests were the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Rabindra Shri Barua and Director of Pulses Research Mohiuddin Ahmed. Shamsur Rahman, Project Director and Chief Scientific Officer presented the main article. The workshop was attended by various level scientific officers, managing directors of sugar mills and journalists.

Agri Technology Fair begins
 
A three day-long ‘Agricultural Technology Fair was inaugurated at Ishwardi under the Agriculture Development Project of Rajshahi Division through the expansion of modern technology organized by the Ishwardi Agriculture Extension Department at the Upazila Agriculture Office premises on Tuesday. The fair was inaugurated by Alhaj Nuruzzaman Biswas, MP of Pabna-4 constituency. Upazila Nirbahi Officer PM Imrul Kayes presided over the function. Special guests were Upazila Chairman Bir Muktijoddha Alhaj Naib Ali Biswas, Agriculture Development Project Deputy Project Director Amiruzzaman Ratan, Vice Chairman Abdus Salam Khan and Women Chairman Atia Ferdous Kakli. Upazila Agriculture Officer Mita Sarkar gave welcome speech. Conducted by Additional Agriculture Officer Mahmuda Mutmainna. Former MP Manzur Rahman Biswas, Krishka League convener Fazlur Rahman Malitha, joint convener Murad Malitha, Press Club president Prof Swapan Kumar Kundu and other guests and journalists were present on the occasion. Colorful rallies were held before the discussion. 20 stalls of institutional and farmers have been set up in the fair.

Madhabpur Foundation, USA gives scholarship

Madhabpur Foundation, USA has given annual scholarships to poor meritorious students of ten high schools and two madrasas in Madhabpur. On this occasion a meeting was held at Madhabpur Upazila Parishad Auditorium on Wednesday. Madhabpur UNO Sheikh Moinul Islam Moin addressed the meeting as the chief guest under the chairmanship of former Upazila Chairman Zakir Hossain Chowdhury Asim. Among others, former president of Madhabpur Foundation Golam Kibria Chowdhury, Municipal Mayor Habibur Rahman Manik, Principal of Itakhola Madrasa Maulana Amir Hossain, Juba League President Faruk Pathan, Social Service Officer Ashrab Ali, Secondary Education Officer AbulHossain, Primary Assistant Education Officer Dwijendra Acharya, former vice chairman Sridham Das Gupta, Abdul Aziz, journalist Rokon Uddin Lashkar, Shankar Pal Sumon, Alauddin Al Rony, Ayub Khan, Mizanur Rahman, Alid Mia, guardian Anwar Chowdhury, Zulfiqar Ali and others. At the meeting, each of the 22 students was given an education scholarship of Tk 5,000.
