Certificates and prizes were distributed among the students participating in the scholarship competition organized by ‘Swapnachaya Foundation’ in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur. Certificates and prizes were distributed among 30 students of 7th, 8th and 9th classes of Ujli Dighirpar Jeiu Alim Madrasa on Sunday. Chairman of Tok Union Parishad MA Jalil was the chief guest at the award distribution ceremony and the programme was presided over by Maulana Shah Alam, Principal of Jeu Alim Madrasa, Ujlidighirpar, Tok Union of the upazila. Special guests were Nurul Haque, Principal of Bir Ujli Model Academy, Mohammad Momtaz Uddin (Acting) Headmaster of Ujlidighirpar Government Primary School, Mohammad Abdullah, President of ‘Swapna Chaya Foundation’, Md. Abdullah, Vice President Arif, General Secretary Md. Publicity Secretary Abdullah Al Mamun etc.
Schoolboy held in Baraigram

Police on Saturday arrested a schoolboy named Abdur Rahman (18) for allegedly raping a school-girl at a friend’s house in Natore. The arrested Abdur Rahman is the son of Hasmat Ali of Karotajharmara village in Sadar upazila of Natore and a student of 10th class of Bonpara St. Joseph’s School and College in Baraigram upazila. According to local and police sources, Abdur Rahman formed a friendship with the victim about a month ago. A week ago, the girl was taken for a walk in Natore town and Abdur Rahman took her to a friend’s house and raped her. Besides, he uploads offensive pictures on his mobile phone.
5 injured as bus overturns at Uthali

A selfie Paribahan bus lost its control and overturned on a divider on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway at Uthali junction of Shibalayaupazila on its way to Gabtali. At least 5 people were injured. The accident happened around 9 am on Tuesday (January 25). In this incident, the traffic on both sides was disrupted for about an hour. Shibalaya police sources said the injured were taken to a local hospital.
The overturned bus has been straightened to normalize the traffic. The bus driver and helper have escaped.
