Triannual council of Bhangura AL held

The triennial council of Pabna’s Bhangura Upazila Awami League’s was held on Tuesday. The old face of Awami politics Md. Lokman Hossain was elected President and Golam Hasnain Rashel Mayor of Bhangura Municipality was elected General Secretary. Among others , S.M Kamal Hossain, organizing Secretary of Central Awami League, Rezaul Rahim Lal Chairman Pabna District Council and District Awami League President , Senior Vice President Alhaj Md. Mokbul Hossain MP, General Secretary Golam Faruk Prince MP, Ahmed Firoz Kabir MP, and Awami League councilors and leaders were present.
Discussion meet on water tariff held

A discussion meeting was held in Bonpara Municipality of Baraigram in Natore on Monday under the chairmanship of Municipal Mayor KM Zakir Hossain to determine the water tariff under water supply and sanitation project. It was organized by Bonpara Municipality with World Bank funding under the Department Public Health Engineering Department. The meeting was addressed among others by Project Financial Management Specialists Masud Hossain and Rakibul Haque Chowdhury, Residential Water Supply and Sanitation Engineer Mamun Hossain, Bonpara Municipality Executive Engineer Ataur Rahman, Municipal Secretary Abdul Hai, Accountant Officers Delwar Hossain, Municipal Councilor Mohit Kumar Sarkar and Ataur Rahman on the various aspects of pricing per unit of water supply.
Foreign wine, beer recovered

Some 50 bottles of foreign wine and 12 canes of beer were recovered by the coastguards of Mongla from a mechanized boat anchored in the river Mongla near at Mongla ferry ghat and its adjacent bushy lands on Monday morning, according to a report received here. But no body was arrested in this commotion. Lt. Commander M Mamunur Rahman Khan, Officer-in-charge of the coastguards of the Western Zone deployed Mongla told, acting on secret information a contingent of the coastguards raided Mongla ferry ghat area and seized 12 canes beer and 50 bottles of foreign wine from the mechanized boat which was left abandoned there by its owner or the boarders and the nearby bushy lands. Later the seized beer and wine were handed over to the police of Mongla PS for taking legal action. The officer added, perhaps, sensing the appearance of the coastguards the persons concerned fled away.
Another report states that a drug trader named Md. Faruk Shaikh was arrested along with Yaba pills by the police of Kachua PS from the village Sreerampur under Kachua Upazila in Bagerhat district in the evening of Monday. It is learnt from the police that acting on secret information a police squad led by M Monirul Islam, OC of Kachua PS raided the Sreerampur Village on Monday and caught the drug trader red-handed along with Yaba tablets from a road just in front of the house belonging to one Mannan Dakua while the drug trader was selling the drug. Arrested drug trader Md. Faruk Shaikh is the son of one Mahatab Shaikh of the same village. In this connection a case registered with the PS under Narcotic Act.
