South Surma Press Club’s new Executive Committee formed

A new executive committee of Dakshin Surma Press Club of Sylhet for 2022-2023 has been formed with Ashraful Islam Imran, President and Staff Reporter of Daily Jalalabad and Nurul Haque Shipu, General Secretary of our time as General Secretary.

The biennial general meeting was held at the Press Club office in Mauban, South Surma in Sylhet on Saturday.
At the end of the first session, in the second session, the 5 member election management committee announced the name of the executive committee for 2022-23.
Others elected of the committee are : Senior Vice President Sahad Uddin Dulal (Daily Bijoyer Kantha), Vice President Shipon Ahmed (Daily Naya Diganta), Assistant General Secretary Abdul Khalik (Daily Dinkal), Treasurer Sharif Ahmed (Daily Ekattarer Kotha), Office and Library Secretary Khairul Amin Rafsan (Daily Sangram), Sports and Cultural Secretary Shahed Ahmed Shant (Daily Vijayer Kantha), Executive members are : Jahangir Alam Musik (Daily Sylhet Post), Ajmal Ahmed Roman (Daily Shyamal Sylhet) and Sarwar Hossain Sourav (Daily Jagrat Sylhet)
Aftab Uddin, the founding president of Dakshin Surma Press Club, and Haji M. Ahmed Ali, the founding general secretary, were in charge of conducted the election.

Memorial of Shaheed Lt. Col Qadir inaugurated

RANGPUR: The memorial of heroic freedom fighter and intellectual Shaheed Lt. Colonel Muhammad Abdul Qadir and other local martyred freedom fighters was inaugurated at his native Mostafapur Bakshipara Village in Badarganj upazila of Rangpur on Saturday. Celebrated journalist Nadeem Qadir, the eldest son of Shaheed Lt. Colonel Qadir and President of Raktadhara’ 71 (Bloodline ’71) constructed the memorial at his native village on the bank of the Chikley River at own initiative. Member of Parliament Aroma Dutta inaugurated the memorial by hoisting the national flag, cutting ribbon and placing wreaths at its altar in a function held on its premises. Raktadhara’ 71, an organization of the martyrs of the 1971 War of Independence, organized the function presided over by its President journalist Nadeem Qadir. General Secretary of Raktadhara’ 71 Mizanur Rahman Talukder delivered a welcome speech. Member of Parliament from Rangpur-2 constituency Abul Kalam Md. Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury Deuk addressed the function. Liberation War Affairs Researcher Brigadier General Md. Bayezid Sarwar, Architect of the memorial Fuad Haider, heroic freedom fighter Mahbub Rahman Hablu, Shaheed Qadir’s family member Salek Miah, Badarganj upazila chairman Fazle Rabbi Sweet, martyred freedom fighter’s wife Rawshan Ara, heirs of martyred freedom fighter Dipti Ghosh and local public representatives spoke, reports BSS.
