Houses for destitutes build in Ishwardi

House is being constructed in Ishwardi at the initiative of the police for the destitutes. Pabna Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahibul Islam Khan inaugurated the construction work in Aronkola Paschimpara area of Ward 6 of the municipal area on Thursday (January 6) organized by Ishwardi Police Station. Speaking as the chief guest, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahibul Islam Khan said that under the direction of Hon’ble Prime Minister, IGP Benazir Ahmed Sir is constructing one house for the poor in every police station of the country. People with humanitarian vision are donating land to their homes. And Bangladesh Police is providing money for house construction. It is learned that Halima Begum, mother of Abul Hashem, a councilor of the area, has donated land for the construction work of the police. The family of the landless Sheikh Mamun is being given a house in the area. Special guests on the occasion were Municipal Mayor Isaac Ali Malitha, Additional Superintendent of Police (Circle) Firoz Kabir. Police Officer-in-Charge Asaduzzaman Asad and Councilor Abul Hashem spoke.

Kidnapped girl rescued

A teen aged girl student (16) of a madrasa kidnapped from Lokpur area under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district was recovered from ‘Tin Dokan’ area under Sreenagar Upazila in Munshiganj by a contingent of RAB-10 recently. At that time the main accused Md. Atikul Shaikh (21), son of one Atiar Shaikh of village Kahardanga within Lokpur Union under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district was arrested by the RAB from there. Abu Sayeed Md. Khairul Anam, Officer-in-Charge of Fakirhat Model PS said they arrested Atikul Shaikh allured the girl student hails from Lokpur area, took her into a micro bus very tactfully and fled away. In this connection mother of the girl registered a kidnapping case with the PS in the following morning as the plaintiff. He added, medical examination of the victim girl was already done and the case is now under investigation.

Seed bed being prepared for Boro seedlings in Narail

 NARAIL: Farmers of the district are preparing seed beds to develop healthy Boro paddy seedlings in all three upazilas of the district this season. Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources said over 48,490 hectares of land would be brought under Boro paddy cultivation this year with a production target of at least 2,12,537 tonnes of rice. The department has set a target to prepare seed bed on over 2,921hectares of land to produce Boro paddy seedlings. Now, the farmers are passing a busy time preparing the seedbed on low lands. High quality seed of Boro paddy like BRRI Dhan-28, BRRI Dhan-29, BRRI Dhan-50, BRRI Dhan-58, BRRI Dhan 89, BRRI Dhan 81, BRRI Dhan 74 and hybrid varieties are being distributed to the farmers at reasonable rates through Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation( BADC) and other private firms approved by Seed Certification Agency of the government.
