AGM of Bagerhat Press Club held

The 48the Annual General Meeting of Bagerhat Press Club was held in its own auditorium on Friday morning with its President Nihar Ranjan Saha. Al-haj Abdul Baki Talukdar, General Secretary of the Club read out the annul report of the last year (2021) of the club while Molla Masudul Haq, Treasurer read out the audit report of the year 2021 and placed the budget of the club for the year 2022 in the AGM. It was addressed among others by Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, founder-life member, former president of the club and Bagerhat district based correspondent of the daily New Nation, former Presidents of the club Shaikh Ahsanul Karim, Md. Delwar Hossain and Ahad Uddin Haidar, former General Secretaries Bisnu Prosad Chakrabarty and Ali Akbor Tutul, Vice-President Nakib Sirajul Haq, Assistant Secretary Shaikh Azmol Hossain, journalists Yamin Ali, Moazzem Hossain Majnu, Mir Joasey Ashrafi James, MD. Shamsur Rahman. The meeting was rounded off with a dinner party.
Sank ship in Mongla Port recovered
At last the coal laden balk-head cargo ship MV Fardin-01 that sank in the harbour area of Mongla Sea Port after it had been collided with a foreign mother vessel was salvaged after long 1 (one) month and 12 days by the divers of a salvage company and it was dragged to the shore of the Pashur channel (of the Port) at Kanainagar area with the help of 2 water vessels at the night of Monday. But no trace of its quartermaster named Md. Mohiuddin (60) who was missing at the time of occurrence was found in the interior of the cargo, according to report received here. Missing Mohiuddin hails from Swarupkathi Upazila in Pirojpur district. Md. Abdus Sattar, proprietor of “Bhai Bahi Salvage Company” of Narayanganj engage in salvaging works of the cargo ship that sank in harbour area (near the buoy No.12) of the Port at the night of November 15 told, we completed the removal work of coal from the cargo on December 15 and after that we started the salvation work of it and our divers were able to salvaged it on Monday (December 27) after a long toiling for 12 days. Later, it was taken to the shore of the Pashur channel of the Port at Kanainagar area with the help of 2 other ships. At first we came to know that it (the cargo) sank after it was collided with foreign ship. But after completion of the salvation works the balk-head cargo it was found that it (cargo) was almost smashed by the powerful propellers of the foreign mother vessel that ran over it (the balk-head cargo). He added that it had been totally damaged.
Housewife missing in Gafargaon

A housewife named Dilara Khatun (30) has been missing in Gafargaon of Mymensingh for the last 20 days. Dilara village is from Chaybaria upazila. Wife of Emran Mia. Dilara has a 9-year-old son named Sagar Mia. He is a 4th class student of the local Chaybaria Government Primary School. On December 12, at around 12 noon, housewife Dilara Khatun left the house saying that she was going to her father’s house with her son Sagar Mia. Dilla has been missing since then. Although 20 days have passed since the disappearance, no trace of the housewife has been found so far. Missing housewife Dilara’s husband Emran filed a general diary (GD) with the Gafargaon police station on Thursday night (December 30). Although child Sagar is staying at his father’s house, his mind is longing for his mother. In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gafargaon Police Station Faruk Ahmed said that the police is taking the issue of disappearance of the housewife seriously. Police have started work to find out quickly.
