Two held with phensedyl in Panchbibi

RAB arrested two drug dealers along with 43 bottles of phensedyl at Kaya village on the Indian border in Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat on Monday night. The detainees were identified as Saddam Hossain, 25, son of Abdur Rahim of Kaya village and Taslim Uddin, 32, son of late Jameed Ali of the same village. Lt. Commander Taukir, Company Commander of Joypurhat RAB Camp, said that they have been illegally collecting the narcotic drug Phensidyl for a long time and supplying it to drug addicts and drug dealers in different parts of the district. Later, a case was filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act at Panchbibi Police Station.

Birth anniv of Brahmachari observed

The traditional religious discussion and kirtan were held in Ishwardi on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Mahanambrata Brahmachari on Monday. The day-long event was organized by the followers of lord Jagadbandhu Sundar of Faridpur Shri Angan at Karmakarpara Matri Mandir in Ishwardi Upazila. Manasbandhu Brahmachari, a devotee of Sri Angan, Faridpur initiated and discussed religion. Badal Chandra Karmakar’s team from Dashuria performed kirtan in the evening. A large number of male and female devotees from Ishwardi and Arambaria were present at the discussion and Kirtan. At the end of the kirtan, prasad were distributed among the devotees.

13 held for allegedly taking drugs

BSS, Chapainawabganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 13 persons for allegedly taking drugs from Swarupnagar in the town yesterday afternoon. RAB said as part of the anti-drug drives, an operation team of the elite force conducted a raid at a residential area at Swarupnagar responding to detective information and arrested them while they were taking drugs. Later the arrested persons were handed over to the police of Chapainawabganj sadar thana.
