An view exchange meeting was held with the contesting candidates of Adamdighi Upazila of Bogra regarding the rules and regulations of the upcoming 5th phase of Union Parishad elections on January 5/22. UNO Sraboni Roy presided over meeting organized by Upazila Administration and Returning Officers on Wednesday. Bogra DC Md. Ziaul Haque was the Chief Guest.

Special guests were Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Md. Ali Haider Chowdhury, Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police of Adamdighi Circle Nazran Rauf and Bogra District Election Officer Mahbub Alam Shah, Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jalal Uddin, Election Officer Abdur Rashid and others. Candidates contesting for the post of chairman and reserved women’s seat and general seat members spoke at the meeting.

Nuclear Bus Tour inaugurated

The specially equipped passenger bus started its journey from Dhaka on Thursday with the aim of creating interest in science and technology in the public and especially in informing the people about the safety of nuclear technology and its various uses. At the end of the tour, the nuclear bus will return to Dhaka on the night of December 27. Minister for Science and Technology Architect Yafes Osman inaugurated the Nuclear Bus Tour by cutting the ribbon and flying balloons at a simple ceremony held at the premises of Rooppur NPP building in the capital.

The Atomic Energy Information Center (ICONE) in Dhaka is being co-sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission and the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation – Rosatom Nuclear Bus Tour. Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant Construction Project Director and Managing Director of Nuclear Power Plant Company Bangladesh Limited. Shaukat Akbar, Chief Administrative Officer of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Alok Chakraborty and others were present on the occasion. This special bus will travel to about 20 districts in different parts of the country in the next five days. Various public relations programs will also be organized along the way. There are plans to undertake various interesting activities to attract the people and ensure their active participation. These include road shows, school and university visits, distribution of leaflets and other textbooks, various science based quizzes and games etc. There will be interesting souvenirs for active participants and winners of the competition. It is learned that this bus tour has been organized under the Russia-Bangladesh joint communications program on nuclear energy.
