Founding anniversary of Islamic Foundation observed

Amena Begum, SP, Narsingdi has said the imams and other Islamic scholars could play pivotal role in preventing terrorism and militancy to make the nation free from stigma. The police Super said this while she was addressing a function organised by Islamic Foundation Narsingdi at its office premises on the occasion of the 40th founding anniversary of Islamic Foundation on Sunday. Addressing as the main discussant ,district Muktijuddah Commander Abdul Motaleb Pathen said the Islam has no relation with any short of militancy, violence and other anarchic activities. With the chair of Deputy Director Islamic Foundation Narsingdi Mohammad Mohiuddin, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Suriaya Begum addressed in the function as special guest .Moulana Sultan Uddin Nori renowned Islamic scholar also addressed in the function.
Zilla Parishad pond re-excavation progressing fast in Kurigram

The activities of re-excavation of Kurigram Zilla Parishad pond as voluntary basis by the members of Zilla Parishad Kormokorta Kormochari Samity is going on periodically on Sunday.Earlier the inaugural function was held near the pond on March 14 where Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) SM Abu Horaira was present as the Chief Guest while Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zilla Parishad Faridul Islam was presided over the function. The meeting was addressed among others by Kurigram district Information Officer Mozammel Haque,Chairman of Belgacha union council Alhaj Mahbubar Rahman,formar chairman of Mogolbacha union council Emdadul Haque(Emdad),social worker Tahmina Begum (Mina).
Youth jailed for teasing female teacher

A mobile court on Sunday sentenced a young man to one-month imprisonment for eve-teasing a female school teacher in Kulaura upazila.The convict was identified as Towfiq Miah, 22, son of Rashid Miah, resident of Monoraj village of the upazila. Police said Towfiq used to tease the primary school teacher on her way to home from the school on Itahari-Sodpasha road in Kulaura municipality.On one occasion, Local people caught Towfiq while he was teasing the teacher and handed him over the police. A mobile court led by upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Mohammad Nazmul Hasan sentenced him to one-month imprisonment on Monday when police produced Towfiq before the court.
