School students’ vaccination starts

The vaccination drive was began among the students’ age ranging 12-17 in Kurigram on Saturday and Sunday. The vaccine activities begin at TB Hospital, Kurigram Government Girls High School and Kurigram Girls High School at 9am to 2pm on both of the day. Kurigram Health Department sources said, more than 2800 male and female students will be vaccinated during first phase. Sadar Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Nazrul Islam said 2800 students will be received vaccine as first dose. Second dose will be given in time. The vaccine giving activities will go on until all students will be received. The students thanked all including the Prime Minister after receiving the vaccine. The students received vaccine showing birth certificate as they have no National ID card.

150 pigeons killed by poisoning

More than 150 pigeons have died after eating poisonous wheat seeds which was sown in crop-field at Baraigram upazila of Natore. The pigeons died at Kamardaha Village in Joari Union of the upazila recently. Local people said some farmers, including Ranu Gain of Kayemkola Village sowed wheat seeds on their crop-field on Friday. Before sowing, they added poison to wheat seeds to protect them from rats, birds and insects. Later pigeons came from the surrounding area and after eating it some of the pigeons died and started falling on the surrounding land. In addition, several other pigeons returned home and fell ill. They also died later on Saturday. Joari UP Chairman Chand Mahmud said that about 150 pigeons of Ranju Mia, Abdul Jalil, Khokon Mia, Al Amin, Zahid Ali, Abdul Alim, Abdul Basheed and Zahidul Islam of Kamardaha village were killed eating poisonous seeds.

Sarishabari Free Day celebrated

Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad celebrated the Sarishabari Free Day on Sunday. The National anthem was performed at Muktijoddha Saroni and the national and Muktijoddha Command flags were hoisted on the occasion . There was a discussion meeting and a tribute to the heroic martyrs and prayers programme held for the martyrs at Muktijoddha Saroni at the corner on Sunday. Engineer Mahabubur Rahman Leds a colorful rally. At the end of the program , tributes were paid to the father of the nation and heroic martyrs in the Upazila porishad.

Temple vandalized in Manikganj

The Nepal Smriti Sangsad Public Temple was vandalized at Purbadashra area of Manikganj due to family domination. One person was injured in the incident. The president of the temple, Nepal Rajbangshi said that his nephew Khokon Rajbangshi vandalized the temple on Sunday. When they tried to stop them, Khokon and some of his companion attacked them with native weapons. His wife was seriously injured in the attack. She is currently admitted to Manikganj Sadar Hospital. High official of Police, Manikganj District.
Puja Celebration Council and Upazila Administration visited the spot. Sadar UNO Iqbal Hossain said, necessary steps are being taken to investigate the incident of vandalism of the temple.
