8 youths held in Shibalaya

Police have arrested eight youths on charges of obscene dancing, drug use and making mass nuisance at Shibalaya in Manikganj and sent them to court. According to the police, based on the complaint of the locals, a dance and drinking party was organised in the abandoned areaof Bagjan village of the upazila on Thursday night.. After receiving the news, police arrested the organisers KausarAmmed (32), Sumon Mollah (20), Jiban Mia (20), Nasir Uddin (35), Solaiman Mia (20), hired dancers Sinthia Akhter (18), Maria 20) and Juthi Akther(18). All of them were sent to court on Friday. Officer-In-Charge of Shibalaya Police Station Mohammad Firoz Kabir said investigating is going on regarding this case.
Recitation workshop held

A three-day workshop on standard pronunciation, presentation and recitation was organised by Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi Gafargaon Branch and Suryasarathi Khelaghor Asar at Shamsul Haque Auditorium of Gafargaon Press Club on Friday. Shafiqul Qadir, Vice President of Suryasarathi Khelaghor Asar presided over the inaugural function. Belayet Hossain, renowned recite of the country, Natyajan Sultan Ahmed, General Secretary of Gafargaon Theater, Ataur Rahman Mintu, a member of Khelaghor Central Committee and Golam Mohammad Faruki President of Udichi Gafargaon Branch spoke on the occasion. Former General Secretary of the Press Club Nazmul Haque Biplob, painter JE Sumon and others. 30 trainees from different cultural organisations participated in the training.
Quality service of train passengers demanded

The journey to improve the quality of passenger service of Dhaka-Jamalpur Railway a human chain was formed on Friday. It is organized by several organizations including Civil Rights Forum, Save Environment Movement, Mymensingh Coordinating Council. This train journey was organized by special train from Dhaka to Jamalpur. Hafizur Rahman Moyna, Central President of Civil Rights Protection Forum, presided over the function. Yusuf Ali, General Secretary of Human Rights Commission Jamalpur Branch Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Nazrul Islam, Atiq Morshed is the central coordinator of Save the Environment movement. The speakers said that if railways could become the main mode of transport in the country, besides reducing road accidents, ordinary people would be able to travel in less time and at lower cost.
One held over JU admission test forgery

An admission seeker was detained at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Wednesday for alleged involvement in first year entrance test forgery. JU authority detained him from Physical and Mathematical Sciences faculty at around 11:00 pm. The detained, Mostafa Kamal (19) hails from Uttar Tarutia Village of Tangail Sadar Upazila. He is the son of late Shawkat Miah of the area. Sudipta Shaheen, Chief Security Officer of the university said that they detained him from the Mathematical and Physical Sciences faculty on the basis of secret information. He was later arrested and taken to the University’s Proctor’s Office. During the preliminary interrogation, he admitted that he got chance in the university by lfraud.
During interrogation, Mostafa Kamal told that two of his friends Ashik and Farhad have been admitted to the ‘D’ unit of Chittagong University through fraud. Then he contacted with them. They told him about Mehedi and Shamim of a fraud group. Mehedi is a 12th batch’s student of Jagannath University Shamim is a fourth year student RU Bangla Department. Acting Proctor of the university ASM Firoz-ul-Hasan told that the university authority has decided to file a case with Ashulia Police Station. The police will take necessary action against the fraud. “Attempts are also being made to arrest the other members of the syndicate.”, the proctor added.
