Farmers’ training held in Rangpur

A day-long farmers’ training on Boro paddy inter-cropping and cultivation techniques was held in the Hall Room of Rangpur Tajhat Bina up-Kendra on Tuesday. Director (Crops Wing) of Mymensingh Management Board Member Khandaker Abdul Waheed was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion.

Additional Director of Agriculture Extension Department Rangpur Region Md Rahman was also present in the programme. The program was presided over by Dr. Mohammad Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Bina Sub-centre Rangpur. Rangpur Binar Scientific Officer Md. Mahmudul Hasan, Scientific Officer Motabber Rahman, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Rafiqul Islam, Binar Kaunia farmer Md. Abdul Baki, Mithapukur farmer Md. Reshma Begum and others spoke. Among others, DD Gaibandha, DD Kuri , DD Lalmonirhat, DD Nilphamari including 60 farmers were present in the training .

Drug trader held with ganja

One drug trader named Mostafizur Rahman Mallik (50) was arrested along with 1 (one) kg ganja by the police from the village Utkul within Jatrapur Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district recently. The arrestee drug trader is the son of one late Lutfor Rahman Mallik of village Baraipara under the same Upazila. Shaikh Mostafa Kamal, a member of Jatrapur Union told, a number of drug traders had been doing the illegal business of drug in the area for long. Local people tried to stop this drug business, but they failed to stop it. At the night (Saturday at about 10) we found some three persons are loitering in the area in suspicious movement. Then we chased them and caught one of them (Mostafizur Rahman) along with 1 kg ganja (from his possession). But the two others managed to escape.

Training on antimicrobial resistance held

 A four day- long training programme on ‘antimicrobial resistance in Bangladesh’ was started at Veterinary science faculty of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) in Mymensingh on Monday. About 30 participants were from Faculty of Veterinary Science, BAU, Mymensingh, Mymensingh Medical College, Community Based Medical College, And Department of Livestock Services, Mymensingh took part in the training. Livestock Division, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) organized this training and Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science, BAU Profr Dr. Md Mokbul Hossain graced the inaugural ceremony as chief guest and Dr.Mohammad Rafiqul Islam , Chief Scientific Officer at Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC)was present as course coordinator of this training programme .
