Assistive device distributed

Disabled Rehabilitation and Research Association (DRRA) distributed Assisting devices among the children and the adults with disabilities on Friday. Rotary Club of Ramna PP Asekul Islam was present as chief guest at the function. Donar organisation General Secretary Antoinette Temoshuizen, Niketan Foundation Chairman Rutger Jan, Trauserer Joost Kurstjens, IPP Pervin Ahmad Khushi were special guests.

Sultana Rahman, Mufika Rahman, Salma Shafi, Sadat Omi, Khair Uddin Rotary Club of Ramna, Abul Islam Shikder, Manikganj Government Debendra College former Principal of, DRRA Project Manager Md. Nizam Uddin, Project Coordinators Md. Akhlas Uddin, Rabeya Yesmin Neela, and Dalima Rahman, and others staff of DRRA were also present. More than 100 parents, children and people with disabilities were present on that occasion. DRRA Project Manager Md. Nizam Uddin said, “DRRA distributed 26 wheelchairs and Special Wheelchairs, 1 pair of special shoes, 2 pairs wrist splint and 7 pairs of AFO with the financial support of Rotary Ramna and Niketan Foundation.

Railway employee killed

Gafargaon (Mymensingh Correspondent

GRP police have recovered the mutilated body of a retired railway employee who was cut by a train at Gafargaon in Mymensingh. The incident took place on Thursday (November 25) at around 7.30 pm. The deceased was identified as Nazir Ahmed, 65. He is a resident of Kalikapur village in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali. Shahadat Hossain, in-charge of Gafargaon Railway GRP outpost said that the man died on the spot when the commuter train heading towards Dewanganj from Dhaka crashed into the Gafargaon Railway Station. He was an employee of Mymensingh Railway Dock. He recently retired. Sohail Mia, the youngest son of the deceased, identified the body as his father’s body. The body has been sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Child drowns in Kulaura

 A 2 years child named Ariyan drowned at Kaularshi village on Kadipur union recently. The deceased was identified as Ariyan, son of Habibur Rahman Fazlur, an expatriate from Chatalgaon village in Kadipur union. According to local sources, Ariyan’s mother-in-law went to visit Kaularshi village with her mother and fell into a pond near her house on Tuesday afternoon.
After hectic search, family members rescued him from the pond in a critical condition. He was later taken to a 50-bed hospital in the upazila, where doctors declared him dead. The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the area.
