2 motorcyclists killed in road crash at Srimangal

 Two motorcyclists were killed in a road accident in college road area of Srimangal Upazila town in the Moulvibazar district at 7pm on Thursday . The deceased was identified as Habibur Rahman,30, assistant engineer of Srimangal Polli Biddhut Unnayn Board and his computer operator Sariful Islam,28 under Srimangal Upazila of the district. One killed in road mishap in Kahaloo

A motorcyclist was killed and two others were seriously injured as a truck knocked down the motorcycle at Goalpukur area under Kahaloo upazila of Bogra district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Helalur Rahman, 18, son Mazibur Rahman Shindoil village of the upazila. The injured were Harunur Rashid, 38, son of Nur Hossain and Mokleser Rahman of Sindoil village of the upazila. Officer-in-charge of Kahaloo Police Station Asit Kumar said a speeding truck hit the motorcycle in the area in the morning when he was going to Maloncha from Kahaloo of Bogra riding on it, leaving him died in the spot. The injured were rushed to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital. An unnatural death case was lodged with the police station in this connection.
Housewife’s body recovered in Habiganj

Police recovered hanging body of a housewife from Kakura village under Inatganj union in Nabiganj upazila of the district on Wednesday noon. The deceased was identified as Rabiya Begum, 26, wife of Saifur Rahman of the village and mother of two children. Rabiya Begum, daughter of Kancha Mia of Minajpur village in Nabiganj upazila was married to Saifur Rahman six years ago. Since the marriage Saifur used to torture Rabiya over dowry. On Tuesday night, he again tortured her over the same issue. On Wednesday morning, family members saw Rabiya’s body hanging from a tree beside their house and informed police. Being informed, a police team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahangir Alam of Inatganj police camp went to the spot, recovered the body, and sent it to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Brother of the deceased Robbul Mia alleged that his sister was killed over dowry. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Liakat Ali of Nabiganj police station said after getting the autopsy report it would be clear whether it is a murder or suicide. Police arrested husband Saifur Rahman for interrogation, added the OC.
Two expats’ houses looted in Sylhet

Robbers shot two members of a family and looted valuables from two expatriates’ houses at Baliteka village in Jakiganj upazila early Wednesday. Locals said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10-12, stormed the houses of two expatriate brothers-Shamsu Miah and Badrul Miah at the village at about 2:00 am by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint. They looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Tk 0.6 million (6 lakh) from the houses.
