Training on irrigation scheme at BARI

The Irrigation and Water Management (IWM) Division of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) arranged a 3-day training workshop for supervisors and field enumerators on ‘Baseline Survey of Deep/Shallow Tube Well Irrigation Scheme Data Collection through Electronic Device (TAB)’ at the FMPE division Seminar Room of BARI on Monday. A total 20 supervisors and field enumerators participated in the training workshop. The programme is arranged with the fund of ‘Conservation of Ground Water and Raising Its Use Efficiency and Productivity in Irrigated Agriculture in Bangladesh’ project. BARI Director General Dr. Debashish Sarker was present as Chief Guest at the training workshop while BARI Director (Support & Services) Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan presided over the function. BARI Director (Planning & Evaluation) Dr. Rina Rani Saha, Director (Research) Dr. Md. Tariqul Islam, Director (Training & Communication) Dr. Muhammad Shamsul Alam were present as special guests. Senior Scientific Officer of Irrigation and Water Management Division and Project Coordinating Director of the project Dr. Sujit Kumar Biswas delicvered the welcome speech and presented the overall aspects of the project.
Preparatory meet on Victory Day held

A meeting was organised by the Upazila Parishad and the administration in the meeting room of the Upazila Parishad on Sunday morning. The discussion meeting was held under the chairmanship of UNO Md. Tajul Islam. The meeting was attended by Upazila Parishad Chairman Md Ashraf Uddin Badal, Women Vice Chairman Reshma Akter, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kaberi Roy, Gafargaon Police Station OC Mohammad Faruk Ahmed, Pagla Police Station OC Md Rasheduzzaman, Municipal Awami League General Secretary Prof Matiur Rahman Babul, UP Chairman Nazam Haquef Dhali, Gafargaon Press Club president Abdullah Al Amin Biplob, heads of various educational institutions and people of different professions were present. In accordance with the rules of hygiene, it was decided to offer cannon fire, wreath-laying, discussion meetings and special prayers in mosques, temples and churches as soon as the sun rises on Victory Day.
Complaint of fire in opponent house

A fire broke out at the house of an employee of a boat candidate in Jamirta Union of Singairupazila of Manikganj. The victim claimed that the fire was given by the people of the opposition pineapple symbol with petrol after losing the election.
The fire broke out at Baudi Para village in Jamirta union of the upazila on Saturday (November 13) morning. Later the fire was brought under control with the help of locals. By then, two cows and a motorcycle in the barn had been burnt.
