240 kg jatka seized in Munshiganj
MUNSHIGANJ: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive seized 240kg of jatka ((hilsa fry less than 10 inch in length) from Meghna river in Gozaria upazila on Sunday. M Hasanur Rahman, a sub-lieutenant of the coast guard, said the jatka were seized from a passenger trawler.However, no one was arrested in this connection, reports UNB.
World consumers’ rights day observed in Natore

 The World Consumers’ Rights Day was observed in Natore on Sunday . Different organisations arranged rallies and meetings. Consumers’ Association of Bangladesh(CAB), Natore District Unit and District Administration jointly arranged the programmes. The rally brought out from Kanaikhali field in the city and met a meeting at DC’s conference room. Among others, DC Mashiur Rahman and CAB president Shamima Laizu Nila were present and spoke in the programme. The speakers submitted their speech on the day’s slogan ‘good food is the consumer’s rights’.
Campaign of sacrifice, among inter-religious community held

The campaign of sacrifice and service calling for contact, peaceful coexistence, cooperation and communication among inter-religious community held in Barisal on Sunday. The day-long progamme organised by non-government organisation Caritas Barisal Region at its auditorium in the city also marked the Caritas Day of sacrifice and services with the theme ‘establish global communion and cooperation through Works of Mercy for all”. It was presided over by Francis Bepari, Caritas regional director and participated by the representatives from different religious communities, sect, class, public representatives, educationists, socio-cultural-NGO activists, local elites and also project activists of Caritas.Among others it was addressed by Mr. Stephane Terreaux, Regional Director, Caritas France; 5 members of Loraine Region Team, Secours Catholique, Bishop Laurence Subrata Haldar, Rev. Father Phillip De Rosario,Rev.Father Michel Milon Dewri, from Christian, Dr. Mawlana Abdus Salam from Muslim, Prof. Bipul Bihari Haldar from Hindu, and Mythene Promila from Buddhist communities.
Terrorist, drug peddler held in Faridpur

 Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an armed terrorist along with a firearm and one drug peddler in the town on Sunday. According to a RAB press release, a team of the force, acting on secret information, carried out a raid in a house of one Akhtar Sheikh in Haveli Gopalpur area and attested the armed terrorist and his drug peddler sister.The arrested armed terrorist was identified as Sumon Sheikh while his drug peddler sister as Sathi Sheikh. The RAB during the raid recovered a country made one-shooter gun and one cartridge, a cell phone, four SIM cards from the possession of Sumon and three bottles of phensidyl, Taka 19710 as sale proceeds of liquor, one cell phone set and three SIM cards from the possession of Sathi.
3 crude bombs blast in Khulna
KHULNA: Miscreants blasted three crude bombs in PTI intersection area of the city on Sunday night during 72-hour spell of nationwide hartal, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance.Police said a group of miscreants blasted the crude bombs in the area around 9pm, leaving a pedestrian injured.No one was arrested in this connection. Meanwhile, police also recovered two crude bombs in front of the Mechanical Building of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology around 8pm, , reports UNB.

BNP leader held in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Detectives in a drive arrested a district unit BNP leader from Horgram Bazaar area of the district town on Sunday on ‘sabotage charges’. The arrested was identified as Advocate Tofazzol Hossain Topu, 50, vice-president of BNP’s Rajshahi district unit.Ifte Khaer Alam, assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (Detective Branch), said a team of police conducted the drive in the area and arrested Topu on Monday noon, reports UNB.
