JL leader held
with pistol in Munshiganj

A local leader of Jubo League (JL) was held with a pistol at Maddhokotgaon area in Munshiganj district town early Friday.
Detained Saiful Islam Elan, 52, is a leader of Munshiganj Jubo League. He was an accused in six cases including of arms and attempt to murder.
Munshiganj Detective Branch (DB) police OC Mozammel Haque said they detained him from the area around 1:30 am along with foreign pistol.
A case was filed with Sadar Police Station in this connection.
163 sacks rice recovered in Pirojpur

A total of 163 kilograms of VGD rice were recovered at Bhandaria upazila of Pirojpur on Thursday night.
The VGD rice were recovered from ‘Mayer Doya Enterprise’ owned by one Md Alamgir Kabiraj in the upazila headquarters.
After being informed, the upazila assistant commissioner (land) Md Touhidul Islam with the help of law enforcers recovered 163 sacks rice.
Locals said Alamgir and some local influential persons have been buying and selling government rice.
They bought the rice from beneficiaries and were preparing to sell it in the market by changing the packets.
Tk 50,000 fined for cutting hill in Moulvibazar

A mobile court in Moulvibazar on Thursday fined a resort owner Tk 50,000 for illegally cutting a hill.
Sreemangal upazila assistant commissioner (land) and executive Md Nesar Uddin led the mobile court and fined Nurul Islam, owner of Tawsi Garden, the amount for cutting a hill at Radhanagar area under Sadar union. He said Nurul cut a portion of the hill to construct the resort that may damage biodiversity and environment.
19 arrested in Mirzapur

Police in separate drives have arrested 19 people on different charges at Mirzapur upazila in Tangail district.
Mirzapur Police Station duty officer sub-inspector (SI) Md Habibur Rahman confirmed the matter on Friday. Of the arrested persons, 13 had arrest warrant against them while other were accused in different cases including of murder.
They were produced before Tangail court in the afternoon, said Inspector (investigation) Md Gias Uddin.
Teacher dies in road accident

A retired teacher was killed in a rod accident in Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram on Friday morning.
Deceased teacher Bahaj Ali,85, hailed from Lazmir mor area under Bango Sonahat union, retired from teacher of Sonahat Govt Primary School in 1992.
Bhurungamari police OC Atiar Rahman said a motorcycle hit Atiar while crossing road in Sonahat Bazar area in the morning, leaving him critically injured.
He died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital around 3:30pm.
