8,000 dogs to be vaccinated in Cox’s Bazar

A five-day long mass vaccination programme-to inoculate nearly 8,000 dogs-to prevent rabies will start from Sunday, said Dr Mohiuddin Mohammad Alamgir, acting civil surgeon of Cox’s Bazar, on Saturday.
The programme will continue till February 4, Dr Mohiuddin told the media at the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila health office on Saturday morning.
A total of 44 units will implement the vaccination programme in Cox’s Bazar municipality and 10 unions under the Sadar upazila, he further said.
Train operator rapes physically impaired girl in Moulvibazar

A train generator operator raped a physically impaired 21-year-old girl on a moving train in Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar on Friday night.
The victim filed a rape case with Srimangal Railway Police Station on Saturday.
Police arrested Zahid Ahmed Jabed (25), an assistant generatorTrain operator He is a resident of Jangalbari village in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj, our correspondent reported.
Zahid raped the girl in a dark compartment when she was going to the toilet.
When the train reached Srimangal Railway Station, the girl got down on the platform and started screaming.

Two arrested with 2 kg gold at HSIA

Armed Police Battalion arrested two persons along with two kg gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport area in Dhaka early Saturday.
The arrestees are: Kamal Parvez, 41, from Cumilla and Faridul Alam, 50, from Chattogram, said Alamgir Hossain, additional superintendent (ops and media) of Airport APBn.
A team of ABPn interrogated the duo due to their suspicious activities at parking area near outer gate of arrival terminal-2 around 12:00am. Due to their incoherent conversation, the official took them at the APBn office at airport and searched them and their backpacks, Alamgir said adding they found 12 gold bars and ornaments weighing two kg.
The value of the gold is worth around Tk one crore.
A case was filed with Airport Police Station in this connection.
