A coronavirus testing lab has been set up in the Centre for Advance Research of Dhaka University in the social science faculty building.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the lab on Tuesday, according to a press release issued by the public relations office of the university.
As many as 400 tests can be conducted each day in the lab, reads the release.
It also said that the lab will not collect samples, rather only conduct tests of the samples provided by IEDCR or other designated institutions.
The lab was set up after getting approval from the health ministry in this regard, DU sources said.
Earlier, a technical committee of the university — formed to take steps in setting up coronavirus testing labs in the university — on March 29 issued a letter to the health ministry saying the university has the capacity to manufacture testing kits and conducting tests.
