Soaps, Savlon, Detol distributed in Bagerhat

In order to prevent corona virus some 34 cartoons soaps, Savlon and Detol were distributed in all the Union Parishads of Bagerhat Sadara and Kachua Upazilas with the initiative of Shaikh Tonmoy, grand nephew of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Shaikh Mujibor Rahman and MP of Bagerhat Constituency-2 (Bagerhat Sadar and Kachua Upazilas) in a ceremony held in Bagerhat Pourashava on Friday. On the day those articles were ceremonially handed over to the 17 UP Chairmen of the Upazilas for distributing the articles (soaps, Savlon and Detal) to the mosques, temples, orphanages and other institutions of the Unions. Akhtaruzzaman, President of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Awami League, M A Matin, General Secretary of Sadar Upazila Awami League, Firozul Islam, Awami League leader and Private Secretary of Shaikh Helal Uddin, MP of Bagerhat Constituency-1and nephew of the Father of the Nation, Shaikh Rezaul Islam, Upoazila Vice-chairman of Bagerhat Sadar, Jubo League leader Mir Joysi Ashraf James and all the UP Chairmen of the Upazilas were present. On the other hand, Khan Habibur Rahman, Mayor of Bagerhat Municipality distributed soaps, Detol and Savlon to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital on be half of MP Shaikh Tonmoy.
Campaign to raise awareness on coronavirus in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI : Local administration distributed leaflets to raise awareness about coronavirus in Saheb Bazar area in the city on Thursday . Commissioner of Rajshahi division Humayun Kabir Khandaker, Additional Commissioner Jakir Hossain, Deputy Inspector General of Police AKM Hafiz Akter, Additional Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Sujayet Islam and Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, among others, were present on the occasion. Humayun Kabir Khandaker said 809 people have, so far, returned to their homes from abroad and 40 of them were released and the rest have been kept in home quarantine. He also urged all to remain alert about the coronavirus and not to be panicked, reports BSS.
Old man killed in road accident

An old pedestrian was killed on the spot when a speedy motorbiker hit him from behind and ran over him at Modonergaon area in Faridganj Upazila on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Rahman Ukil,58,-a local trader and resident of Modonergaon village of Balithuba union in the Upazila and a close kin of AL Dist Health and Population Affairs Secretary Dr Harunor Rashid Sagor. Locals and Faridganj Thana OC Abdur Rakib said, the accident took place in front of Patwaribari at Modonergaon village when he was returning on foot to his home after Esha prayer in the local mosque. At once, Shafiqul was rushed to the local Upazila Health Complex where the on duty doctor declared him dead. Actually, he died on the way. Police seized the motorbike later. But the motorbiker along with his two other riders managed to flee. No case was yet filed in this connection-added OC Abdur Rakib.
