Kabadi competition held in Jashore

Eight tournaments of Khulna Division level Bangababdhu 9th Bangladesh Games Kabadi competition were held on Jashore Eidgah on Friday. In the day’s first tournament, Magura district men’s team beats Meherpur by 45-19 sets while Magura district women’s team got walkover in absence of Meherpur district women’s team. In another tournament, Bagerhat district men’s team and Narail district team draw in 42-42 sets while Narail district women’s team beat Bagerhat district women’s team by 93-07 sets. In other tournament, Kushtia district men’s team defeated Meherpur by 35-25 sets while Kushtia district women’s team got walkover in absence of Meherpur team. In another tournament, Jashore district men’s team beats Narail district team by 36-30 sent while Narail district women’s team defeated Jashore district women’s team by 37-22 sets.

School boy electrocuted at Gournadi

A third grader school boy died of electrocution at his home on Friday morning. The victim was identified as Rahat Sardar, 11, son of Azizul Huq Sardar and third grader student of Barodulali Shishu Niketan under Gornadi municipal town. Saleha Begum, headmaster of the school, quoting family sources said Rahat was electrocuted while tried to connect table fan on his reading table with plug. He was immediately rushed to Gournadi upazila health complex, but attending doctor declared him as dead, the headmaster told. Golam Sarwar, OC of Gournadi police station, said police hearing the news visited the spot and founding the fact permitted to burry the dead body without autopsy at family grave yard after lodging a case of unnatural death.

Annual Sports of Deshantarkathi Govt Pry School held

The annual sports and cultural programme of Deshantarkathi Secondary and Govt. Primary School was held at the school premises recently. Several hundred students took part in the event. It was a colorful and enjoyable programme. Villagers and students of neighboring schools attended the function. District Education Officer of Barguna Shahadat Hossain attended the function as Chief Guest. In his speech he praised the School Management Committee for running the school very efficiently and successfully. He also assured necessary support from the Govt. for expansion and development of the School.

Free health camp on Mujib Borsho held in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA : A day-long free health camp for the poor was held at Gatia village under Bharatkhali union of Saghata upazila in the district recently . Gatia Miahbari Charitable Dispensary (GMCD) organized the health camp on the Mujib Year (Mujib Borsho) on the occasion of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, sources said. A number of physicians including specialists on medicine, heart, liver, kidney, diabetes, TB, eye, ENT, gyne, child and skin provided healthcare services to the patients. While visiting the camp this correspondent found that poor people with chronically affected with diseases were receiving free treatment from the physicians.
