Cake Festival held in Gopalganj

A day long cake(Pitha) festival was held at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science Technology University (BSMRSTU) premises at Ghonapara, Gopalganj organised by the student of Bengali Department of BSMRSTU recently . At least 50 various kinds of traditional Bengali cakes like Patisapta, Nakhshi pitha, Golap Pitha, Malai Role, Moyur Pitha, Jhinuk Pitha, Roshpan Pitha,Lobongo Lotika, Dim Sundori etc displayed in the fair. This kind of festival was held for the first here in Gopalganj. Earlier Prof Dr. Mohammad Shahjahan, Vice- of BSMRSTU inaugurated the fair as the Chief Guest.

Training on green mango preservation held

The Post-Harvest Technology Division (PHTD) of the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) arranged a two-day farmers training program on Green Mango Processing and Preservation on Sunday t Aralia village in Kapasia Upazilla of Gazipur. A total of 30 farmers from Kapazia Upazilla participated in the training programme. Chief Scientific Officer & Head of PHTD Md. Hafizul Haque Khan was present as chief guest. Headmaster of Aralia High School Mr. Md. Abdus Samad Kajol chaired the function while Mr. Atikullah Dulal, 8 No. Ward Commissioner of Toke, Kapasia Upazilla presented as the special guest. Dr. Md. Golam Ferdous Chowdhury, Senior Scientific Officer of PHTD and the Program Director of the Green Mango Processing and Preservation Program delivered the welcome speech with short brief of the project activities. The programme contents for the participants were how to preserve green mango for longer storage, processing of green mango into pickles and its preservation method, how to marketing the preserved mango and pickles and how to be benefited financially round the year.

Founding anniversary of Samayer Alo celebrated

The founding anniversary of The Samayer Alo, a newly published national Bengali daily of the country was celebrated here in a befitting manner morning under the auspices of its Bagerhat district based correspondent Asaduzzaman Shaikh on Monday. On the occasion a colourful rally that was brought out from Bagerhat Press Club premises paraded the main roads of the district town and ended at the same venue. It was led by Kamrul Islam, ADC (General) on behalf of Md. Mamunur Rashid, DC, Bagerhat, Adv. Md. Mozaffor Hossain, President of Bagerhat Press Club. It was followed with a lively discussion meeting held in the auditorium of Bagerhat Press Club with its President Adv Md. Mozaffor Hossain in the chair.
