Martuza Ahmed, chief information commissioner inaugurated a 5-days camp on right to information at CTK Ideal Junior Secondary Girls’ School premises at Chalkidanga under Monirampur upazila of Jashore district on Tuesday noon. MRDI arranged the programme under better governance for better services funded by UK aid and Manusher Janya Foundation. The camp will be continued till 1st March to aware people about right to information. Chaired by Shaheen Anam, executive director, Manusher Jonno Foundation, the programme was addressed among others by Mohammad Shafiul Arif, deputy commissioner, Jashore, Hasibur Rahman Mukur, executive director, MRDI, Nazma Khanam, upazila chairman, Monirampur, Ahsan Ullah Sharifi, upazila nirbahi officer, Monirampur, Abdur Razzak, chairman, Bhojgati union council and Mobinul Islam Mobin, editor, Daily Gramer Kagoj. In his speech, the chief information commissioner said that transparency of democracy is depends of rights to information.
Construction of 8 bridges progressing fast

Construction works of eight large bridges with an expenditure of TK 43 crore in two upazilas of the district is progressing fast. Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) are constructing the bridges as part of Upazila and Union Roads project in the current fiscal year. Construction works of the bridges is expected to be completed by June this year, LGED sources said. Of the project, five bridges are being constructed in Madarganj Upazila while the rest three bridges in Melandah Upazila of the district. After completion of the bridges a new avenue would open up in the road communication development and people of Madarganj, Melandaha and Sarishabari Upazila will enjoy smooth journey .
Agriculture Fair ends in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: Speakers in a function underscored the need for familiarising the latest agriculture methods and technologies to the farmers to boost production of crops to make food security of the country sustainable recently . “In this context, the agriculture fair can play vital role to familiarize the methods and technologies to the farmers to attain the cherished goals as the modern methods and technologies are displayed there”, they said. They made the comments while addressing a concluding ceremony of 3-daylong agriculture fair on the premised of Independence Square of the town here on Saturday afternoon. Sadar upazila agriculture office of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) arranged the fair under Rangpur Division Agriculture and Rural Development project. Deputy director of DAE Krishibib Masudur Rahman addressed the function as the chief guest and senior horticulturist Dr. Saikhun Arefin and senior monitoring officer of the project Rawshan Kabir Md. Abu Fattah were present at the event as the special guests while Sadar upazila agriculture officer Al Imran presided over the ceremony. The speakers in their speeches urged all to disseminate the modern knowledge acquired from the fair to their fellows to cultivate crops and vegetables including paddy to get desired output. Later, the guests formally distributed the crests to the best stall owners. A total of 24 stalls were set up in the fair. Earlier, whip of the Jatiya Sangshad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini formally inaugurated the fair on Thursday as the Chief Guest.
