Illegal current nets seized in Chandpur

Members of Chandpur Coastguard led by their Contingent Commander M Ishaque Ali along with Executive Magistrate Marufa Sultana Khan Hiramoni and District Fisheries officer Asadul Baki launched a sudden drive at a home beside Balia Bazar-a busy and bustling rural market under Chandpur Sadar on Wednesday and seized about 17 lakh metres of illegal brand new current nets worth about Tk six crores as per market value. At that time, no owner of the nets was found. Acting on a secret information, the drive was launched-said the Coastguard Commander Ishaque.
Amar Ekushey Book Fair begins in Narsingdi

An eight day-long Amar Ekushey book fair begins on local Shilpakala academy premises here on Saturday. Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Syeda Farhana Kawnine openedthe fair as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Imrul Kayes in the chair. Amar Ekushey book fair is arranged here in February every year to commemorate the supreme sacrifices of language heroes for establishing Bangla as the mother tongue in 1952. Chairman of Narsingdi Zilla Parishad and General Secretary of Narsingdi District Awami League Abdul Motin Bhuiyan, Civil Surgeon Dr Ibrahim Titon, former Principal of Narsingdi Government College Prof Surjakanta Das, its former Principal Prof Golam Mostafa Miah, President of Narsingdi Press Club Makon Das and former Muktijoddah Commander Abdul Motaleb Pathen, among
others, addressed at the inaugural function. The fair will remain open from 10 am to 8pm everyday.
Two persons arrested , cops closed in Jamalpur

A father -in -law Jamal Uddin, 65, and mother-in-law Rojina Begum (55) were sent to jail in Sarisabari, in the Jamalpur district on Saturday . On the other hand, ASI Humayun Kabir and constable Jahanara Begum were withdrawn after the civil dress went under arrest on Saturday night. It is reported that, Tejgaon Police Station’s case was registered against Mamataz Begum, wife of Obaidur Rahman of Bongram of Sarisabari Upazila, on the same day. The two police ASI Humayun Kabir and Constable Jahanara Begum of Sarisabari Police Station and went to arrest Mamtaz Begum, in a white dress on Thursday afternoon. Locals arrested two policemen on suspicion of fake police. On receiving the news, police went to the police station and rescued the two policemen. At the same time, the accused’s mother-in-law was arrested. Sarisabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge Majedur Rahman confirmed the matter.

A Information Fair was held in Jamalpur at the Municipal Land Office ground recently . The speakers said , information is power and it can prevent corruption . The meeting was presided over by DC Enamul Haque of Jamalpur. State Minister for Information Dr Murad Hasan MP was present as Chief Guest . SP Delwar Hossain, Mirza Sakhawatul Alam Mani, Mayor of the Municipality also addressed the meeting as special guests . District administration, police administration, chiefs of various government institutions and social, political, cultural leaders and teachers of school colleges were present on the occasion .
